Applying Green Card for my wife while living abroad.

I am a US citizen who is currently living abroad with my wife who is non-US citizen. We plan to move back to US in a few years. My question is can i still apply for a Green Card for her while I am living outside the US with her?

Yes. Make sure you continue to maintain or establish proof of domicile (pay US taxes, maintain US driver's license, US bank accounts, etc) before she files; also have a joint sponsor lined up.

Yes, this is the right time to apply.  Once the I130 is approved, and it reaches the NVC stage you have some control over the timing to suit your plans.

You can start the process, but she won't get the Green Card until you move back to the US.

You can begin the process while you are overseas. But when it gets to the NVC stage  you will need to meet the US domicile and  financial support requirements. Most petitioners return to the US at that stage to establish residency and get a job etc to ensure those requirements are met

We can help you better if you tell us which country your wife will be immigrating from.  It makes lots of differences, depending on the country.  Typically, the process is taking 18 to 24 months, but for some countries, much longer.
