I might believe fuel taxes were being used for road maintenance if TxDOT didn't have so many bridges and other infrastructure listed on the NHTSA vulnerable list. Some of the major at risk bridges are on tollways, too.  So where is the money being spent because it ain't on the roads.

I might believe Centerpoint was using fees to invest in electric infrastructure if my whole home generator hadn't already paid for itself... 🤷‍♀️

I realize what I say is Texas specific, but yeah...

44gal/mo is a LOT for the little car we have.  The MPGe conversion to make that up would have us driving an asinine amount of mileage.

Agree for something like a heavy Jeep Rubicon 4xe but interestingly, heavy hybrids weighing more than the ICE counterparts but are charged the regular ICE registration fee, so if we're worried about wear and tear to the roads, why aren't they paying the difference like a full EV has to?

44 gallons a month is filling up my truck 2 times a month - but that doesn't happen as i have a little pontiac vibe
that is my daily driver (which would probably average 25 gallons a month).  i don't drive much, just to work and home,
doing food shopping on the way back home.  some that i work with easily do 40+ gallons a month as they commute
100 miles a day.  i have a round trip of about 25 miles for work.

Same, I bought my 2nd Tesla just before it endedd.  Got Federal tax credit, State EV credit, and a nice local EV tax credit.  Electricity in my town is municipal, only about 0.14/KW or something like that. All the surrounds towns are much more though.    With all the mileage I drive everyday, zero  maintenance except for tires, and a good resale when I traded my old one in, the car practically pays for itself.  I have a 50A circuit for charging 2 Teslas .. That guy says 75A doesn't know what he is talking about.

Now, when I drive by a gas station, they feel so foreign to me .. The thought of pumping gas turns me off ...

I have never really found it terribly inconvenient to fuel up.  I fuel up my wife's car about once every 10 days and usually combine it with a grocery trip, so not a really big deal.  With that I get to avoid dragging cords around, or re-wiring my house (only have a fully utilized 100A service).  Sure, they have things like load shedders that I could deal with, but if I want my vehicle charging, I want it charging.  Along with that, we love to road trip (just recently took a trip out to Utah), and sure it can be done with an EV, but why when it adds more time to the trip (we do not stop at restaurants, etc., only fuel and bathroom breaks and we bring our food with us).  Additionally, I did not see a lot of charging options in the NP's we visited.

I am fine with EVs for those that want them, they can be fun to drive, but all this talk that they are so superior to ICE options is ludicrous.  EV's are just another transportation option.

Not to veer off topic but I am flipping back and forth between CNN and Fox. I am not up to date on the current talking heads. I know who the White House Press secretary is and that's about it. "She is a babe btw." However seriously and not trying to stir the pot.

That CNN chick, Kaitlin Collins, is  she a former dude?  Just curious.?

That Pontiac Vibe is a chicken repellent.  You at da age where your opposite sex age wimines are like hunting on a baited field. Only problem is that vibe is like a shiny loud spot light.

May I suggest a 5.0 ford mustang with some cross pipes and NRA sticker on the bumper. Combined with a I could not  care less if you live or die attitude and you will have them trying to climb in like a bad zombie movie.

Since you have been my fearless leader for so many years I will consult for free. Go ahead and put bumping uglies way down the list. At our age that's just something to do before a nap. I get way more excited about that 3 peice special down at KFC  and much more Dentally equipped to eat the mashed taters.

When I had my ICE, I would be filling it up every 3 - 4 days.  I didn't find it inconvenient, but I hated fueling it in the winter time.

Yup, taking a road trip will take longer, that can be a show stopper if you don't like to take breaks. But I enjoy using the gas savings on nice restaurants when I stop.

Countless co-workers have EV's.  I never ever heard any of them saying their car is superior than someone else's ICE. But everyone does tout, praises, and love the advantages that it offers them, which is not the same as saying they are better than ICE... Everyone I know certainly understands an EV is not right or better for everyone. In fact for me, I got my daughter an ICE car, but my Wife and I love our Tesla's. I can't live without the self-driving, but that is not specific to an EV.

Its the same deal with everyone saying discussing one brand or model vs another, EV or not. Everyone has their own preference without claiming their car is better than someone else's. Though it does seem that BMW owners at work say their car is better than the Audi owners. and vice versa, lol .. so maybe I'm not exactly correct! lol

But in my experience, the satisfaction and subsequent loyalty to an EV is very high .. higher than owning any other car.

For the general public, without the ability the charge the car at home, and other requirements, it certainly is still a niche market  ... no one I heard is saying that everyone should buy an EV or its better, its just better for their own needs .. That wouldn't make any sense.

One imagines so.  I've never owned a foreign car.  Nor would I buy an electric car.
