Strongly considering this (current idea is around Atlanta, where I have some extended family, and the parents of the little girl below are likely moving soon; close enough for parents to drive to in a day and many flights to around where they live too, still a big city where it shouldn't be too difficult to find a job if I can't find a remote one, and as Delta's mega-hub is rather better connected to places outside of North America than San Diego -- usually drove up to LA before flying to meet PRG before she came here), but don't want to up and move without having a job; differences in interest rates means even borrowing a few hundred thousand less could end up with nearly the same payment (although as an actual house rather than a townhouse, much less in HOA fees and between a less expensive place and lower rates, much less in property taxes). Might hedge our bets and get a management company to rent out this place for a year while we rent something there (not sure how that would work), but would need to sell this one to have enough money for a reasonable down payment on another place.

So I was laid off on March 1 (which came as a complete surprise to me, though granted I didn't watch the company's earnings calls), which is the major reason for no updates on the adventures of PRG and mini-Dave for a few months.

Despite many interviews (really, enough that I lost count, not giving in to P-math), no one has decided my l33t software development skillz (anyone need a C#/SQL Server/Angular guy?)  are what their company needs yet.

Fortunately they did give me a generous severance package, and between PRG's income and unemployment insurance we're only losing money slowly.

Still went to my parents' 50th anniversary party in Florida in April, tickets and some of hotels already paid for when we found out. Ended up ditching some of planned activities because mini-Dave had no interest in going to the beach (lives in California, man) and getting a 3-year-old who likes to randomly wave his arms around a mini-golf club seemed like a bad idea. Mini-Dave did play with his 5-year-old second cousin at the party and had some fun there, though didn't want to join the guys for a picture. Mini-Dave got three birthday cakes due to when his birthday was; one after breakfast with my parents, one in the evening on the other side of Florida with PRG's first grade teacher (who's been in the US for a while now) and her daughter's family (including a little girl about mini-Dave's age who quickly became his best friend though we only spent one evening and one morning with them). Was really good to see them.

Got to airport in the middle of Florida (used alternative route to avoid traffic) with plenty of time for flight home. A bit after plane lands, mechanical issues announced say it'll be at least two hours until they can board. About 4 hours after scheduled boarding time, announce that although they still think they'll be able to fly tonight (even though already almost late enough that landing in San Diego will incur a $many -- I don't know how much, but it's a lot -- fine for landing between midnight and 6:00 am) they'll start taking rebookings. I'm not sure everyone on our flight got in line, but certainly most of them did (including us, as mini-Dave was getting tired and I wasn't keen on driving home after midnight Pacific when I'd been in Eastern time all day). Rebooked flight, got comped meals (attempt to find decent sit-down meal late at night at an airport wasn't super-successful but at least the airline paid for it) and hotel and Lyft to hotel and back, checked in. Also one of our bags didn't get back to us (fortunately mostly just had mini-Dave's toys); was assured it would be in San Diego when we got there.

Joked that we were almost home because we were near Sea World. Realize next morning that all three of us are in different rows on our first flight; doesn't work with 3-year-old, no man, but couldn't fix it until at the gate. Apparently needed to wait for everyone to board and then they convinced someone next to PRG to switch. I watched The Suicide Squad on that flight, not showing that one where mini-Dave can see it, no, man (not bad, but lots of gratuitous violence). All in one row for final flight, boards on time, everything seems fine... and then we sat on the taxiway for about an hour because of funny wind conditions. Had a bumpy takeoff, scared mini-Dave. But eventually got back home, then needed to reschedule a few interviews.

Mini-Dave had yet another birthday party with his daycare the Friday after we got back home (hence the third birthday cake). Now seems to think he should have a birthday party whenever he wants 🤣🤣. Carefully explained that his next birthday will not be until next year.

Anyway, that was March and April ...

So sorry about the job.

Glad you were able to still go to your parents anniversary.

Happy birthday mini -Dave

Thrilling Friday non-GS/ES report, see man:

First half of GS/ES route was almost identical to last time we were in that neck of the woods, coincidence man.

Breakfast/lunch & probably din-din (at half-past 2 p.m.) was a pepperless Philly Cheesesteak, ingest we man.

Toward end of ES-ing, got recorded call from power company about outage in our 'hood, oh wonderful man.

Of course, the temperature was Many degr. F., Texas weather Many man.

Fortunately, we keep the A/C cranked low at all times, very much for these situations man.

At the casa, garage of course wouldn't open, so had to enter via front door, majorly startled miu man.

Thermostat showed only 2 degrees warmer than we'd set it, well OK man.

Upstairs, as usual, was warmer yet, but not intolerable, si and no man.

We had intended to mow the lawn upon return, combine sweaty errands/job for one shower man.

However, no way were we gonna start mowing with no casa A/C, absolutely forget THAT man.

We therefore fed miu and lay down for a light nap, one ear open man.

Sure enough, power innage occurred after 1 + half an hour's total outage, awaken we man.

Sprayed self with mosquito-killer, repellant we man.

Mowed entire lawn, sacrifice ourself we man for Two Guys fun next week man.

Many (2+1) sweatbands consumed, 2 job 1 recovery man.

Afterward, sat under ceiling fan with ice on knee and Powerade Zero entering dehydrated gullet, recover we man.

Ex-Mrs.-T-B., Mini-B., Cousin Mini-B., Cousinette Mini-B., the Rojo, the Mini-Rojas (Rojo's 2 daughters), and Amigo Mini-B. are  camping for one night in a place more than Many (2+1) hours away amidst certain mosquitoes, good grief man.  :bonk:

We don't know where certain people's heads are sometimes, no man.

We, conversely, are back in an A/C'd casa with half a Manyzen rubias arriving later, lap of luxury man.

Saturday GS/ES report, see man:

We had itineraried Many (2+1) GSs and Many (2+1) ESs, equity man.

We blew off the final GS but attended the others, see the take man:

  -- toucans Nivea shaving-foam = $Many ($2+1), steal man

-- Many (2+1) books about Spanish; chamois cloth = $1 + half a buck, steal man

Total = $Many-&-a-half ($2+2 + half a buck)

Rant, grrrr man:  Fat people should be banned from all ESs, state jail felony man.  :girlwerewolf2xn:

Thrilling non-Gs/ES Saturday report, see man:

Breakfast/lunch, and probably din-din, was the Cici's Pizza buffet, partake we man.

We had Many (2+2) -- si man, Many (2+2) -- plates of Many (2+2) slices of 'roni 'za each, ingest we man.

By our algebra, that equals Many (2x2x2x2) slices of 'roni 'za, si man.

It is our policy to always eat more in the value of the food than the cost of the buffet, $i man.

It distinctly appears that this concept was achieved in this instance, financially savvy we man.

After buffet and ES-ing, we groceried at a legacy supermarket, get everything at once efficient we man.

They didn't have one crucial item, meaning Powerade Zero grape flavor, grrrr man.

We must venture forth elsewhere and later for that mandatory necessity, sigh man.

Miu has demanded brushing and play, compliant we man.

Big party with the rubias anticipated again this eve, anticipatory we man.

Rant, see man:

Actually preceded by (or more of) a query, querulous we man.

Do buffets attract fat people, or are fat people attracted to buffets, huh or huh man?

At the 'za buffet today, we were in line behind a monstrously obese chica, truly a sight to see man.

No way she could have possibly been any obeeser, obeesest we've ever seen man.

Had one extra calorie strayed within yards of her, then spontaneous thermonuclear explosion, boom man.

This chica somehow loaded all Many slices of a 'roni 'za onto one wimpy CiCi's plate, hog all she man.

We barricaded ourself across the restaurant to protect ourself against the explosion, self-protective we man.

Somehow and fortunately, combustion was delayed, miraculous man,

We were driving away when we saw the mushroom cloud in our rear-view mirror, see we man.

And that was the closest CiCi's restaurant left to us, sad loss man.

A/C is so over rated.  I think only necessary for Eastern Europeans and weak Texans...LOL   I constantly tell my wife, "it's summer in Florida, why do I have to freeze in my own home?"

And the same goes for mosquito repellent.  I rarely need it but the tender Eastern European woman I co-habitat with seems to attract them.

I have noticed the same back in the day when I would visit the Golden Corral.  I always wondered what type of vehicle they were able to fit into to get there.
