I would say illegal immigration is probably at the top of my list of important issues when I vote. One thing the greatest President ever, did that was wrong was grant amnesty without first making sure the borders were closed

What a great idea. I'd happily donate to help people get out of such horrendous situations, if they're asylum seekers who've lost everything in a war zone they're hardly going to have the money for a flight.

seeing the bigger picture is key to understanding the events leading to the problems faced by these people 

 

who created those war zones and is now using those refugees to further reset and break down the systems they want to change by force?

and exactly who will financially support them, feed them, shelter them, and provide medical when they get inside the US?  Why not fly them to a neighboring, "safe" country in their region of the world?

Donate? Why not commit yourself to fully financially supporting an asylum seeker just as you would sponsoring someone for a K1 or the like? Anyone who wishes to take on that responsibility themselves is fine by me, but just dropping a small token donation and expecting the American taxpayer to cover the bulk is ridiculous, especially with the cost of living as it is.

So it's ok to expect other countries taxpayers to support them, just not Americans? Got it.

I did, housed and financially supported 2 Ukrainian families fleeing war until they could get on their feet, find jobs and find houses. Which they did, and they're now making an amazing difference to their new communities. I'm in the fortunate position to be able to have done that, which I know not everybody is. But I do think every safe, secure and wealthy country has a responsibility to help those in desperate need personally.

Charity for desperate situations has its place. But taxpayers forced to support anyone who wants to enter the US is wrong.

All taxpayers are forced to pay for things that they may not want to support or will ever use themselves, that's just the nature of taxes. Each of us will have very different ideas of what we'll want our taxes to pay for, and we'll all have different priorities. 

 

I think we'll just have to agree to disagree on what should be a priority for us personally. 😊

That is great, but what do you do with folks that have an asylum claim denied?  Do they get to stay?

You and me even my cat know only a very small percent have a legit asylum claim
