Hi all,

I want to give my bank a heads up to make sure USCIS' charge doesn't get denied next month. Can someone tell me what the actual charge will be? Is it "Department of Homeland Security"?

Thanks!

That's why I want to give my CC company a heads up, so it doesn't bounce back.

I just got charged for submitting work authorization for a good friend we are sponsoring via the humanitarian program.

 It's labeled as "USCIS I-765, 800-375-5283 DC20579 US"

I would think you could at least let your CC company know the amount that will be charged if we don't know the exact name

@oneoftheunderdogs Here's advice from the bottom of my heart: do not use credit card to pay the fee. Just search the forums for rejected applications due to denied credit card charges. It doesn't matter if you call the bank to warn about the charge, in a lot of cases it's going to be impossible to override automatic fraud detection system based on AI algorithm. In other cases, employee may reassure you they put something in the system while doing absolutely nothing.

This affects simple cards from Chase, Capital One, Discover, as well as premium cards with high annual fees from Amex. Maybe your card / bank is better, but why take this risk? I personally had legitimate transactions declined, even though they were pretty normal charges for modest amounts.

Good old personal check is all you need.

The charge on my card was from ELGIN LOCKBOX. I called my bank 2 days after submitting my application to tell them I'm expecting a charge from the USCIS for $850 and I just wanted to make sure it won't get declined. I was told as long as I have enough credit, there shouldn't be a problem. I got this text when they charged my card. The charge was $850 for me and my 2 kids.

"Your PNC card XXXX was used for an online or phone purchase at ELGIN LOCKBOX in CAMP SPRINGS USA for 850.00 USD."
