Citizenship Interview Question

Wife has a pending ROC and N-400. Her citizenship interview is Monday morning. She's received nothing that says I, the USC, should be there, but according to this forum it's a good idea. The issue is we will have our dog with us and can't find someone to watch him by then. I'm kinda panicking because even in the letter she received for her upcoming interview it says that the citizen spouse likely will not be allowed in, so if they turn around and grill her about why I'm in the truck and not with her it seems like it would be unfair. Any ideas what to do, or any contingencies they may use like calling me or having me walk in from the adjacent carpark (I would leave my dog in the car for a bit but don't want to for super long). Interview will be in Fairfax btw. Thanks

there are dog kennels to leave your dog with (short term or long term)

its good that u will take her

u may be asked to go in and be questioned too but that is usually for suspicious cases

she could be asked where u r and answer accordingly

just make sure she has supporting evidence showing commingling of finances and joint residency

We've received no feedback that it's also a ROC application interview. We can scramble and get some stuff together but we just submitted an RFE a few months ago so they should have updated stuff.

Also I don't trust dog kennels at all, for multiple reasons.

she needs the proofs (originals of statements like joint bank ,  apartment lease,  etc) at her interview the local office

NBC may not have communicated with the local office for a combined interview

we seem to send same documents several times to different places for different steps of this process /  just the way it is

immigration wants to use computers to modernize but they don't yet seem to trust the system (or have a good one)

that would be really annoying to have the N-400 interview but it not be a combo interview, and then have to wait who knows how long for the ROC one. Her LOE expires in December too...

Leave the dog at home!!!!!  You should anticipate a combo interview.    PRIORITIES!!!!

Interview is Monday morning, it's around a 4 hour drive for us. There's no way we can make arrangements in time. Nothing in the letter indicates my presence is desired or even allowed.

Can't the dog stay at home alone with some food and water?  I would expect a combo interview.  Your choice...and your consequences.  I know what I would do.

How often is the USC interviewed for the ROC interview? Is it very common or only in suspicious cases?

For a joint I-751, YOU are an integral part.

Board the dog and go. It will be $50.

How do I know if her I-751 was ever transferred to NBC (or is it NVC?)? In her case history nothing explicitly states that it was

I'll be right outside and he's fine to be left in the truck for awhile.

it can be combo

but we have seen the naturalization put on hold waiting for ROC to process

look in search box for combo/N 400 interview posts

If it's a combo interview, I-751 can be denied because of USC wasn't present. Would you want to spend $$$$ and few years again waiting for approval? This is literally one of the most important days for an immigrant. Spend $50/$100 or whatever for somebody to look after the dog if needed. The cost is miniscule in comparison to benefits of I-751 approval.

P.S. you cannot tell whether it's going to be a combo interview or just N-400. There's no way of knowing it upfront in your case. Assume USC must be there.
