B1/B2 Tourist visa reapplication

Hello Everyone!

 

My sister was denied for a tourist visa but she will reapply for the second time. Is the application process the same or can she just use her old application? I really don't know the process of reapplying for another tourist visa.

Hi Susie!

Thank you for your reply. I invited her, my mom and my sister's daughter but they only approved my Mom's visa. However, my mom can't travel alone due to health issues. My sister is her caregiver so she needs to be with our mom. The mistake I made was that I didn't emphasized in my invitation letter that medically, my Mom can't travel alone. For her next application, chances that she will be approve if we will include our mom's note from her doctor and that their stay will only be for at least 1 month.

There is no "invitation" for a tourist visa.  

 

Tourist visas are evaluated based on ties to home country.

I’m not sure that’s going to change their minds about giving her a visa, but good luck.

How long ago they applied? If is to close will appear more desperate and if nothing changed in their situation, the possible to be rejected is high.

Rosa, unfortunately that's not how it works.

 

Your sister needs to show ties that she will return to her home country (curious what that country is.. South America for sure?) in order to be approved, not show a reason why she needs to go to the US. In reality it's irrelevant.

 

I highly doubt she will get approved just for saying your mum can't go alone, unless her ties to her home have increased.

Great responses. I think it’s been decades that many people (myself included) believed that invitation letters are helpful for tourist visa applications. Many times the consular doesn’t even look at them and if they do they sometimes can be harmful towards the application.
