N-400 vs N-600

As GC holder of a lot over five years, I about to submit  N-400 to get Certificate of Naturalization.   

 

Is it really necessary to submit N-600 as well?     Seems Certificate of Naturalization will be sufficient to get US passport, etc, is proof of citizenship as well.

Can I avoid submitting N-600  and save application fee etc?

That's all you apply now, not N-600.

N600 is not applicable to you as you are not yet a citizen.

File N400 to become one.

No. N400 is all you need.

The N-600 is for someone who has already become a citizen and who wants proof of his citizenship (most commonly for children whose parents naturalized and the children then became citizens automatically, they may want proof of their citizenship other than just a passport).

It doesn't apply to you, since 1. you're not a citizen, and 2. you will get your certificate when you take the oath.
