(K1 Visa) Getting a B1/B2 while waiting for Fiancé (Iran)

Greetings all,

 

I know the topic has been debated 100 of times on here but I haven’t seen any middle eastern centric posts about this (specifically from Iran spouses). But I was wondering whether or not I should even waste my time with considering this as an alternative so I’m posting this here for feedback. My fiancé is from Iran and It’s been a while since we have seen eachother, but either way, I was curious as to while we wait for the I-129F / K1 proceadure to make its way, is it a waste of time  to try  and get B1/B2 visa for her to wait here while we wait for the form to make its way. Is it worth any attempt? If it’s no I’m just going to move on and try other options. Thanks

You can try, but I wouldn't count on success.  All potential visitors are assumed to already have intent to stay illegally in the US.  In which consulate would your fiance apply?  Visitor visa wait times:

Ankara- Emergency appointments only

Yerevan- 648 Days

Dubai- 347 Days

Registered Nurse- Retired- I practiced in the areas of Labor & Delivery, Home Health, Adolescent Psych, & Adult Psych.

IT Professional- Retired- Web Site Design, Hardware Maintenance, Compound Pharmacy Software Trainer, On-site go live support, Database Manager, App Designer.

August 7, 2022: Wife filed N-400 Online under 5 year rule.

November 10, 2022: Received "Interview is scheduled" letter.

December 12, 2022:  Received email from Dallas office informing me (spouse) to be there for combo interview.

December 14, 2022: Combo Interview for I-751 and N-400 Conducted.

January 26, 2023: Wife's Oath Ceremony completed at the Plano Event Center, Plano, Texas!!!😁

February 6, 2023: Wife's Passport Application submitted in Dallas, Texas.

March 21, 2023:   Wife's Passport Delivered!!!!

May 15, 2023 (about):  Naturalization Certificate returned from Passport agency!!

 

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

I believe Cambodia was one of the shortest ones with like a 30 day wait, but I am not emotionally invested in that option for her and my sake to avoid giving either of us a false pretense of hope if its not worth the shot.

Can you meet in a 3rd country where Iran does not require a visa? Ecuador or Saint Kitts?

You cannot just 'consulate shop' to avoid the queue for a visa.  Why would the US consulate in Cambodia agree to interview an Iranian for a B visa when they have zero ties to Cambodia?  That's not how that works.

 

Sorry, but I'd peg her chance at a B visa @ <1 %, realistically.
