Hello everyone,

I have two questions I’d like some help with.  This is regarding an IR-2 visa, interview is at us embassy Manila June 22.

1) I noticed a misspelling in my beneficiary name in the “given name” section of the DS-260, every where else it is spelled correctly but when you print the confirmation it is incorrect, I’ve spoken with the NVC but all they tell me is to contact the embassy.  What can I do? Or will it even matter? Attached is a photo.

2) for my wife’s interview back in 2016 I guess, I was allowed to accompany her throughout the entire process, is this still the case? Or has anything changed?

thanks in advance.

Thanks, I may be overthinking it as many of us do, I just remember how strict they were with everything for my wife’s interview, she’s 20 but I think she’s still considered a child until 21.

At the US embassy in Manila, there will be a document screening step prior to the actual CO interview.  The visa applicant should request the document screener to correct the DS-260.

The USEM gatekeeper who checks the interview appointments will decide whether or not to allow a companion for a 20-year old applicant.  Please report back if they allowed one for your beneficiary.

You can request the DS-260 to be reopened >> https://ph.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visa-inquiry-form/
This is a common request for those who updates passport or address info.  See if you can edit name as well.  Otherwise, like others suggested, advise the pre-screener person for name correction/update.

Immigration law considers under 21 a child for immigration purposes but everything else is adult at 18 (including, for example, whether you need permission from the other parent for a visa and, in PH, the age at which a cenomar is required)p). So I’d be interested too if they allow a companion for someone who is in every sense other than a very narrow visa definition, an adult. The embassy guidelines just say a companion is allowed for a “minor child”.

I will report back, but I can tell you that in my wife’s interview several years ago they allowed me to be with her the entire time, the whole interview was basically me and the consular agent talking about my hometown. Hopefully this one is just as smooth

Yes, because (a big) part of that interview was ensuring the marriage was genuine, so having the spouse there helps. That’s a different issue. Anyway let us know.
