Case approved for I-485 on 02/03/2023.  No interview required.  My case number starts with I0E which I understand to be the first 3 characters you get with your case ID when it's the new system / electronic system.

What's funny is the I-765 and I-131 are not approved.

I have some questions if anyone knows?

1.  Does the green card include a tax ID number or social security number?  She needs this to file jointly on our taxes.

2.  With a green card, you no longer need the application for travel document right? You can just..travel when you want?

3.  With a green card, can you apply for an American passport?  Her Cambodian passport has some major limitations.  I want to take her to Paris, France.  It's always been her dream.

4.  Do we know if the status will change when the card is mailed?  How long does it typically take to arrive?  Will we need to be present to sign for it?

Petition Mailed:     7/17/2019  (Fedex)

NOA1:                         7/19/2019
Check Deposit:       7/24/2019

Text Message:        7/25/2019  (Your case was received)

NOA1 Hard Copy:  7/29/2019

NOA2:                         10/22/2019

NOA2 Hard Copy:  10/28/2019

1. I guess, if you guys applied for the Greencard and Social Security (which was part of the form you had to file) then it might be sent separately. I have never done it so I can’t give you an accurate answer to this.

(If not, your wife could easily go to the Social Security Office with the Greencard and apply for a Social Security number. Take 7-14 days to receive the card/paper by mail)

2. You can travel outside the U.S and get easily inside. Just be aware if you stay outside for too long the entry can be denied.

3. Since your wife is not a U.S Citizen she can’t apply for a U.S passport. After 3 years of being married she can apply for naturalization and become a citizen, therefore can apply for a passport.

4. Status will change.Takes 7-14 days to receive the greencard.  After a few days you will see: Card Produced and Card was picked up by the United Postal Service which provides you a Tracking number.

I hope I am  correct with all of em, somebody correct me if I am wrong with something :).

Weird, just logged on to USCIS and all of my cases are showing the following status. I guess the USCIS system is down? Is anyone else seeing this?

Hello everyone.  this is my first time posting on this sub.  We filed in may 2022; biometrics in June and since then ... absolute silence.

We did not use a lawyer.  I have not received any RFEs.  I am wondering for those who did get approved - did you use a lawyer?

Is there any value in hiring a lawyer now ?

Thanks in advance.

Hello - we used a lawyer and have exactly the same. I don't know what the value would be to get a lawyer now, as it's just a waiting game. There is nothing a lawyer can do for you now, as far as I am aware.

Hello! Thought I would call USCIS today to enquire about my case and what do you know, there's been some movement!

We filed (concurrent) for AOS (I-485) in May 2022 (ROW) to Nebraska Service Center, Biometrics were done in July 2022. Our I-140 was approved in October and on Nov 1st, our I-485 was transferred to the NBC.

The USCIS rep told me that our case was transferred to the Albuquerque Field office on Feb 11th and they confirmed receipt yesterday, Feb 16th.

I looked into the processing time of the Albuquerque field office and it's 21.5 months. A bit confused as Nebraska Service Center is showing 12.5 months (and was 18.5 months at the time of filing).

This feels like a setback now, in terms of processing times. The other thing is that we live in Seattle, so not sure why this would go to Albuquerque.

Anyone with a similar experience, in terms of field office not being in the same state as applicant?

Thanks! Caroline & family

Got this email today. We are transitioning from K1 visa and the medical for the K1 was in October 2021. So I am guessing that whatever health forms I submitted are now expired. Will get the medical done next week and let’s see what happens.

Courtesy Letter Request

An initial review of the evidence submitted for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, determined that the evidence submitted was deficient for the following reasons.

  • A completed and signed I-693 was not submitted

If you already submitted a I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record or if you are a K-1 VISA holder, please disregard this notice, no further action is needed.

What You Need to Do

Submit a completed Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record. A USCIS civil surgeon must complete and sign the form, and you must also sign the form. If the civil surgeon refers you to a specialist, the specialist must

Hello, we did our medical in Nov 2021 and our lawyer told us they were valid for either 2 or 4 years, I can't remember exactly. Are you sure it expired?

The medical was done in Brazil.  The email message did say if we are a K1 visa holder to ignore but the K1 expired 90 days after entry of course and I thought it wouldn’t hurt to do the medical anyways and send it in.

If I understand correctly, K-1s do not need to redo the medical exam so long as the I-485 is submitted within 1 year of when the medical exam was performed. Doesn’t matter that the AOS process will take forever, as long as the application was filed within 1 year of the exam.

Two questions then:  was this email sent in error and I should ignore (have you guys received one?)

and will it hurt if I do the medical and send it in anyways?

It seems like a standard email they might send to everyone (although we have not gotten one like it), or maybe whomever opened your packet didn’t pay attention to the type of visa being adjusted from. Do you remember if you guys received a DS-3025 from the medical exam (vaccination confirmation form)? If not or if it was not included with your AOS packet, that may have prompted the email.
Would it hurt to redo the exam? I doubt it as long as no “Class A” diseases are found. But the email does say to ignore if you’re converting from a K-1 visa. The fact that the K-1 has expired by now I think is irrelevant for this issue. Here’s a link to the USCIS page on the I-693 that might help…see frequently asked question #3 on page 8: https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/i-693instr.pdf

Courtesy letter request is safe to ignore for K1 visa holders with completed DS-3025 from their overseas visa medical.  The K1 medical will not expire, as long as the I-485 was filed within 1 year of the medical date.

My spouse had their I-485 approved on Friday without interview and no RFE. I just checked our application package. We submitted a DS-3025 with our I-485 package and referenced it in the cover letter.

Congrats. Did you get an email beforehand asking for I-693? And did you ignore it?
