Hello

This morning my husband went for his interview and was approved but was told he needs to upload and bring a different birth certificate. Does anyone know how long it will take to receive his visa after this?

Thank You

I am not sure anyone can answer that question.  The best course of action right now is to get the requested information back to the consulate as soon as possible, but each case is individual, so there could be other delays such as further background checks, etc.  Hopefully once he submits the requested documents, it will be soon for both of you.

Good Luck!

Thank you for your response. No other delays just the birth certificate. They changed the type of birth certificate required after a certain date of birth. He is going right now to get it … lol

Thank You

They are now asking for the attestation of birth.

Yeah. If you’re born before 1992, you need an Attestation of birth, my fiancée advised me to put it on here after my interview but it skipped my mind. People born from 1992 upwards don’t need attestation of BC but 1991 downwards needs attestation of age. I am in that 1992 bracket and I brought my attestation of BC and they said it’s not required for me. Also I get to understand people born 1992 upwards don’t have any issues with the doubt about age by the consular officers.

Your explanation is way clearer than the Visa Reciprocity..https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/Nigeria.html

Hope you and @Vbreezypost and pass it along to those waiting for interview so they don’t get delayed @

Yes that's required of all Nigerians born before 1991.. So expect it to take a few weeks of verification then issue.

It was told to submit passport with document correct? So get that submitted ASAP.

I added you to the spreadsheet also. Be sure to update your timeline. And complete a review that so helps.
