Hi

My Fiancée just received our approved K1 Visa in the mail!!

I had some questions regarding the package itself

1) On the State.gov website it states not to open the "sealed package" My question is the package inside the package i received in the mail or am i not suppose to open the package at all (in picture)

2) I know the Issued K1 visa is valid for up to 6 months and upon entry we have 90 days to get married and apply for AoS ect. So does this mean that if the issue date was  March 4th 2022, and i enter the states on June 4th 2022, does that mean that there is only 3 months left of validity of the Visa upon entry? The reason i ask is because i would like to stay in Canada just a little longer to save up as much money as possible before entering the USA to get married and stay with my wife while we apply for AoS. I'm just not sure if it's wise to stay in Canada to save more money for another 3 months or if i should just pack my bags and head down asap.

Any help would be appreciated.

Inside the mailing envelope will be the passport and the sealed envelope. Open the mailing envelope to get the passport out and ensure you don't open the sealed envelope

Look at the visa page in the passport to see its expiry date. It is dependent on the date of the medical as well as visa approval date

You have up until the expiry date to enter Wouldn't leave it until the last day.. hate to get travel delays !! But no issue from POE with waiting until close the visa expiry date

Once you enter the US, the visa is no longer of any use .. it is a one time use only. You must marry within 90 days of your entry .. so the clock starts ticking on that date of entry. No going in and out until you have received your AP travel document .. 8 months or so from submitting application for your AOS and work /  travel applicatiins

You must have access to the passport to know the expiration date and to travel, so you have to open the outer package.  If there is another sealed package inside, it must remain sealed, and you must give it to CBP at POE.

Awesome thanks for replying <3. I'm glad you understood what i meant about the second portion. Because i wasn't sure if the Visa 6 month term still carried over after POE which would leave us with exactly 90 days left on that visa because i would never overstay on a visa obviously lol. Thanks again for the help :D
