Hi --

I've lost my partner's I-797 and didn't write down the case#. Does anyone know what to do to get another copy?

I've been searching but can't seem to figure it out..

It’s a every easy process, just call 800 number tell them number A number (you will see on your green card ) and request a copy of NOA

Oh ok. I’ll ask the mods to move it to the right forum then.
when did you file it?
You should be able to call USCIS , say “infopass” and they put you with an agent. After a few verification questions, agent should be able to give you case number.  You can also request a copy of I-797.

Make 10 copies and keep them in your car, your bathroom, your garage, your pantry lol.

I did, Including on USB.

It's good to build a habit of digitizing everything. Make a PDF as soon as you receive something in the mail and file it away in DropBox or Google Drive.

If you don't want to invest in a scanner, use the free Adobe Scan app on your IPhone or Android, which produces clean, crisp PDFs. If you scan 100s of pages per month, I recommend investing in a Raven scanner or Fujitsu. Raven will file away the PDF in your DropBox with a press of the button.

This is definitely a better idea than having paper copies everywhere. They're available to you when you need them and no paper and ink wasted.

so we got the USCIS case number but there is no PDF within the portal? am I looking in wrong place? there is no tab "documents" for this case. any idea how to find it/

It needs to be an account on this USCIS site

https://myaccount.uscis.gov/

you should be able to see a section for each application eg I751..  there should be several tabs ( from memory) case status /case history/ documents

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm not sure where I go on this website. This is all I see:

Mmm. I can see your issue. My cases have a document tab as well. Sorry. Not a dumb question at all.

You seem to be checking case status.

Do you have a USCIS account that you log into with username and password?  That’s where the PDFs are when they send you a receipt or appointment notice

Thanks so much for your response!

So what I am doing is I goto the link that was posted above: https://myaccount.uscis.gov/

Then I choose MyUSCIS

Then I see the 3 case numbers I"ve had. Only one previous case has a documents tab. Am I going to the wrong place? So sorry if these are stupid questions!

Not a dumb question and that’s the right place.  Generally they park the documents they send you right there.
