Hello everyone!  Next week I have my I-751 Divorce Waiver interview. Do I need my lawyer to come to the interview?

Since this interview is to prove the marriage was bona fide I don't see why my lawyer should be there, he is charging me $900 to come.

I used him to file and send the application and answer the RFE.

Should I go by myself?

Well… you hired a lawyer and still got a RFE, so there’s that.

VJ is mostly a DIY site, so most likely they are not going to tell you to go with an attorney. But of course, you do you.

Wasn't part of the fee also a retainer? If it is, drag him with you. If not, go alone.

But surprised you got RFE with a lawyer and he charged you for it too.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

I don't think it will be necessary if you bring all the documents and are well prepared. Plus the fee is quite steep.

Better use that money to celebrate after the interview. 😄

De hecho, mientras estés preparado con la documentación necesaria de respaldo, que puedan sustentar que tu matrimonio fue de buena fe, por amor y no por otras razones que puedan considerarse como fraude, no creo que necesites a tu abogada.
