I know this has been asked multiple times. but i couldn't. find the specific question I was looking for. But just out of curiosity, are we allowed to take our own passport photo with our own phone? Can someone just take a picture of me in a white background and I can just change the size later? Or do i actually have to go get a passport 2x2 photo?

Im not an expert but I have read that yes you can. There are some apps online too that can help you plus the US has an online tool that you check the photo. However i would personally dont risk it as any mistake can cause delays..

Eg one app i found

If it's digital photo to be uploaded, you can take with phone or camera, crop it to the required resolution n format and upload.

If it needs to be mailed, you need to print it on 2x2 with correct positioning.

Just go to a drugstore like Walgreens and they will do it to regulation for you.
