Marrying a Russian fiance' in a third country

My fiancé and I are interested in applying for a CR-1 visa and are interested in getting married in a third country. Dose anybody have any recommendations as to what country would be best ? Dose it matter to immigration ? We are thinking of one the Caribbean countries maybe Dominican Republic ?

Maybe @Strawberrymermaid will weigh in, she recently married her Russian husband in Mexico if I remember correctly.

Hi cowboy, it does not matter to immigration as long as it is legal in the place is it performed.

Things to consider:

• Can both parties go there without a visa?
• are there COVID-19 requirements (testing, etc) for the location? Is a quarantine required?
• How long will it take to get a marriage license and what documents/ things needed for a legal wedding (witnesses, blood tests can be involved),
• if flights are available between Ukraine and the Caribbean country, how expensive are they, etc.

A quick Google search shows that DR requires a sworn declaration by a notary public that both couples are legally able to marry. 2 witnesses must be present and cannot be family.

Mexico was easiest for us to find in terms of flights and documents needed.

Yes you can marry anywhere . . . Three countries plus the US in our journey.

Costa Rica is another super easy option.  The only documents required for non-resident foreigners to marry there is your passports.

I'd do Mexican Rivera if i had to do it again and we couldn't do it in Hong Kong -  with all the travel bans.  (Note to Mary - I am not doing it over again  , even if we can snorkel with the turtles )
