Hi,

I was told to contact my Senator regarding status for my CR-1 in Nigeria.  Yes, I am aware of the length of time, but an immigration lawyer on Instagram said it won't hurt.  They came back stating the same for everyone, COVID, etc. and I have to wait....BUT when my file goes to the Embassy they said they will write a letter and put it in my husband's file, if I want.

Is this a good thing or a bad thing?  I read mixed messages!  I don't want to hinder my case at all!  I really just wanted to know the reasons other than COVID, if any.  I'm like everyone else getting impatient.  UGH!

Thoughts???

Thank you for your help ahead and NO I'm not trying to jump any line or get ahead faster, just wanted to hear from someone other than the NVC regarding status.

What sort of letter, saying what?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

All they said was, "We can send a letter of support to the embassy that would be in his file at the time of his interview."

Is that bad or good?  I'm thinking it is bad and we should not have them do this.

Pointless, up to you.

A letter of support will neither speed up the process at all nor help the consulate officer make a decision regarding your case.  It is neither good nor bad, imo.

It would do absolutely nothing. Maybe don't try to get advice on super important things like immigration off people from Instagram?

Some people on Instagram and Facebook think a Senator or Congressperson can speed up the process.  They are wrong.

Letter of “support”?   Do they know him personally?

This makes no sense, and is not a thing.

Even if your US senator knew him personally, it would not sway a consular decision about a visa application.

Please don’t waste their time.
