I-751 Interview, N400?

Hey everyone,

I mailed my I-751 application in January 2020. Today I checked my case status and it said the interview is ready to be scheduled. Needless to say I am pretty disappointed. I felt like I submitted lots of evidence. I was never interviewed for the AOS application, is this a policy change?

I have read that the interview could still be months away. Since I am eligible to file my N400 application should I do so? I’m hoping that by the time the I-751 interview gets scheduled they’ll do a combined interview? Can you all please advise?

This forum has been such a support and I am hoping I can cross the finish line with its help one last time.

Thanks in advance.

1.  To approve the I751 without an interview, there must have been a previous USCIS interview....even if you have very strong evidence.

2.  You can file for citizenship when you become eligible.  I know of no reason to wait.

Agreed @Lucky Cat

Go ahead submit your N-400 when the 90-day window comes. You might get a combo interview. Good luck!

Since you're having an interview for the i-751 anyway, may as well file the N-400 and get it done and over with.

Like Lucky Cat said, those who didn't have an interview for the first greencard will get an interview for their i-751 instead, no matter how much evidence they sent.

If an applicant has never had a previous interview with USCIS, then USCIS will always schedule them for an I-751 interview. File N400. Most people end up doing the combo interview. Some (I don't know exact stats) do them separately but it's usually because the office didn't receive one of the files in time or something. From what I've read on here, most people get the combo.
