Hello,

We received our DQ on March 9th, 2021. We expected to receive a notification about our appointment with the embassy by now because we understood that 4 to 6 weeks is the usual time it takes following the DQ (Documentarily Qualified). Since we haven't heard anything, we're thinking of contacting the NVC. Is there anything else we can do? And how long does it usually take to schedule an interview with the embassy?

Everyone is different depending on visa category and the consulate where the interview is supposed to take place.

For instance, for IR-5, we have been waiting for almost a year now due to presidential proclamations, and a backlog and local embassy reduced capacity.

Please clarify your visa category, so peers can provide you with some guidance.

Oh thanks. So we're based in Beirut, Lebanon, and we're applying for the CR1 Visa. We submitted our initial application I-130 in November of 2020, it was approved by NVC in February. We completed our DS-261 in March 2021 and it was labeled as documentarily qualified almost right away. Since then, we haven't received anything

Got it.

So wait for someone with CR-1 visa to respond.

But I can already tell you that you guys should be in a better shape than we are.

This is because while IR-5 doesn't have restrictions anymore; Department of State during April briefing has made it clear that while they will prioritize all immigrant visas, they made it sound like within those spousal visas will be on top.

So ask some CR-1 people around, and then also look through consular and regional-specific forums.

This is a briefing that I was referring to.

Hi there, I’m in the same situation, CR1. Based in Brussels Belgium. I was DQ’d on the 5th of March. A day after I submitted everything. I’ve been waiting 8 weeks in my appointment now, and it’s frustrating because I’ve seen people at the same embassy that were DQ’d after me getting an appointment and they allready have their visa in hand since their interview was always 13 days later.. it’s been hard because you would think they plan u by DQ .. I didn’t contact NVC because it’s hard to get a hold on them, I contacted the embassy but they don’t give info either, it’s frustrating but I’m going to wait this month and see what happends. I don’t understand any of it..

Do some research on the backlog in Lebanon. Check here for other VJ member's timelines for a start: https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/k1list.php?cfl=0&op1=3&op2=d&op3=&op4=1&op5=5,6,8,10,11,13,14,15,16,17,18,20,21,22,25,26,27,28,108,110,111,208,210,211&op6=All&op66=All&op7=Lebanon&dfile=No&adv=

Hello there,

Our case was Documentarily Qualified on February 23rd, 2021. The next day we filed an expedite and got denied. Waited for three months and on 10th of May we filed another expedite. We received an answer on June 10th,2021 from NVC saying that the Embassy can't expedite the case. So we have almost been waiting for 4 months already. Even if you contact NVC they will not be able to provide any information regarding your interview as the Embassy or Consulate schedules it. The only explanation in our case was that the US Embassy in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) is working half staff nowadays. We are still waiting for our interview appointment.

Hello,

Thank you for the information! It's just really frustrating that we are all left in the dark here. I hope we hear back from them soon though. Best of luck!

We ended up waiting six months between getting DQ'd and receiving our interview date , mostly because of the way COVID was mucking up everything. I know we're kind of on the other side of it now, depending on where you are in the world, but I'd still expect for things to take longer than you anticipate. This is especially so for places that have large backlogs from being closed for so long.

Good luck.

👐

Patience......patience.

Currently sitting on 150 days since DQ'd in June for an IR-1 with our consulate being Frankfurt. But I'm seeing other VJ members having a much faster turnaround with Frankfurt...so I'm so worried that maybe something is wrong with our case and NVC hasn't let us know. IDK.
