Daily update on Biden tanking america

This was a breach of royal protocol, at least as embarrassing as when Trump stepped in front of the Queen. We can laugh about these things but they do reflect on our president's image on the world stage. At a time when the country is trying to rebuild its respectability with its allies, small things potentially have greater importance.

It is sort of ridiculous, but if we are to subject Biden to the same scrutiny as Trump, it's notable. And on topic.

Whatever, let's focus on Old Joe meeting a meaningless monarch, in the meantime, inflation is increasing, Biden's energy policy is enriching our enemies, and we have an idiot a heartbeat away.

Who is the idiot? By "heartbeat away" do you mean the Vice President?

What is it that makes the Vice President an idiot?

Duh, she's a woman. ;)

(To the mods: that was said as a joke. I do not believe all women are stupid. However some of them are just as capable as being stupid as men.)

I too don't believe anyone here is saying women are generally stupid. But there are a lot of people in this country who have a lot of difficulty accepting women in leadership roles based solely on their gender. I hope I live to see the day when that view is in such a minority as to not even register as noise.

I believe she is the only one that is a heartbeat away from taking over.  Feel free to form your own opinion of our current VeeP, even her own Party was not enamored by her attempt to run for the highest office even though she checks off several boxes in the political identity book.  Her amazingly awkward trip to Guatemala and Mexico is just her most recent example of looking stupid.  Whether she is intelligent or not, I have no idea, but she certainly does not look like it.

Not really sure it has anything to do with her being a woman, but keep playing that narrative, it is offensive.

Looking stupid and being stupid are two completely different things. I think you'll agree that we could cherry-pick every President looking stupid in a given moment, and it would be a completely different conversation than if they actually are stupid. But you said "we have an idiot a heartbeat away," indicating that you believe the VP is an idiot. So again... what makes her an idiot in the general sense?

btw I agree her Guatemala trip was cringey.

That's precious. I am not pointing to you specifically, but I have seen highly gendered attacks on our vice president in this forum. Recently. I was drawing attention to how foul that is. If you disagree with someone on policy grounds, fine by me. But snickering about how a woman in power must have slept her way to the top is despicable. Again I am not saying you did it but I have seen it and did not report how offensive I found it as a woman because when I have in the past I was ignored.

lol - it makes them feel so GOOD to snicker about how they perceive she achieved power - it doesn't explain their own lack of achievement or why their lives are beset by loserdom, but it makes them feel good so we musn't deny them this

To be fair though, I think a lot of people feel like this, about all sorts of people. That they somehow didn't "deserve" to get something, some position of power, some accolade. I mean, I have had more than a few people say that  I didn't "deserve" to go to an Ivy League school, because...? Because I don't "look" like someone who is a high achiever? Because I don't fit into an underrepresented group? It didn't matter that I worked very hard throughout school to get where I did. I was always going to be a "pretty" girl and anything I achieved in life must have come to me because of that, with the undertone that I must have somehow actively capitalized on my appearance. It's insulting and sexist. When I see people attacking Harris for essentially just being a woman who has risen to the top, making snide comments about how it must have been because she slept her way there, it's the same old boys' club mentality in action that keeps a lot of women from wanting to seek positions of power.

Also there really is no need to worry about pearl clutching. In my experience, a properly hand-knotted set of pearls will withstand a good tug or two but as in a lot of things, you get what you pay for. :P

Who even cares if you are part of or not part of an unrepresented group?  The whole political identity categories primarily created by the Left/Dems/Activist Media is very troubling.  Who cares how Kamala Harris got where she did, she got there whether we agree with the method or not.  Not everyone is rewarded for achievement, hence the call from the Left for equitable outcomes, some people (Hunter Biden) get a lot of help.

Okay, I think we agree on a few things here. I put in the point about not being a member of an "underrepresented" group to show that attacks can come from all sorts of different directions, including people who you might think are your allies. (Believe me, there are people at universities who think that yet another liberal white woman is just a show of same old, same old -- and that accusation comes from the right and the left.) But I 100% do agree that it doesn't matter how Harris got where she did except that I do think it is worthwhile praising those who worked hard to get where they did. Harris was raised by a single working mother and while she did not come from a background of privation (her parents were highly educated, for example) she still had to put in the work throughout school to get accepted to college, and then get into law school. She has had some of the toughest jobs in California politics. She made a lot of enemies -- and a lot of friends.

And I agree that not everyone is awarded for achievement. I mean, if we're going to talk about Hunter Biden, we really should look at people like Donald Trump, Jr., too. What has been his great contribution to society that he "deserves" to have a megaphone? It's silly. What those people have in common is money.

As for labelling others... the right kind of juiced that with the Red Scare and labelling everyone they didn't like a socialist or communist or whatever. You want to talk about cancel culture, start with the HUAC.
