INTERVIEW DONE AND IN LINE FOR OATH CEREMONY!

First of all, thanks to all the active members of this community for sharing your experiences/thoughts.

How it went:

  • Got to the Cleveland office around 7:30 AM for the 8 AM interview. They let us in at 8 AM and we were directed to the 5th floor.
  • Even though I was like the 20th person to check in, I was called first for the interview.
  • The IO who came to get me was super nice and super friendly and talked like I've known her for years.
  • She kept me standing in her cabin, had me raise my right hand and I had to say "I do" after she was done stating the oath.
  • Mask On/Off does not matter. There was a plexiglass between us.
  • She asked for my Passport, GC and a State Issued ID (I did not have a physical DL so I showed her the temporary paper, it worked fine)
  • She said, well if you are ready, I am ready. Shall we begin? - Sure
  • Reading Test: When is the President's Day?
  • Writing Test: The President's day is in February. (hard to write on that tablet with a stylus)
  • Civics Test:
  1. What is one reason that led to the civil war? - Slavery
  2. How many Senators? - 100
  3. What is the one right only for the US citizens? - Vote in a federal election
  4. What is the state capital? - Columbus
  5. Who is in charge of the executive branch? - POTUS
  6. One state that borders Mexico - Texas
  • Then we went over the series of Yes/No questions and she said YOU ARE GOOD TO GO.
  • I asked if there were any Oath ceremonies today and she said unfortunately the entire month of July and August is booked since they have to print the certificates in advance but you might get lucky and get something scheduled by EOM August.
  • She walked me out of the office and that's it.
  • Took less than 15 mins End to End.

  • When I left the room and go to the elevator, I got the USCIS email saying case updated to Quality review and then got another email saying "You are in line for the Oath Ceremony"

I wish you all a good luck and again, I got the sense from her that she (all other IOs) want to make this a pleasant experience for us since this is the last milestone in our years long immigration journey.

Let me know if you all have any questions.

Hey! Congratulations!!! So happy for you! Now I have  question, you said the officer went over the yes and no questions right after the civic test, so didn't she go over personal things on the n400, like name/ssn/living history/working history/traveling abroad? Thank you so much in advance and congratulations again!!!

Does it come before your oath ceremony? Once you pay your fine decided in court, you can ask for a certificate of disposition in the same court, the certificate suggests that not just you got your fine after the citation, but also paid it and the case is closed

I am new to driving so I barely understand all these terms. But the officer did give me a paper that stated the fine on it and told me to long into some website and pay it off. Is actually my first. Have never been pulled over before.

Oh lol, now you are talking, if it's just a fine then it's not a court invitation, so just pay it and have the proof of it at your oath, good luck to you! Look at the back of the ticket, it should have a website to pay it online

As Savva said, pay it online and take a screenshot of the receipt plus print it. It should have a reference number of sorts.

Please help me understand how to file for the passport. I've had my Green Card since 2014. I have had it renewed since 2014 and it expires in 2026. I just was never in a rush to apply for the passport because I already have a Canadian passport which allows me to travel everywhere any way. Did I miss a deadline?  How can I apply for passport and how long does it usually take?

You can apply for a passport if you have US citizenship. Did you get US citizenship yet?

US passport is for US citizens ONLY, if you are still a permanent resident and have a green card, you are not eligible for a passport, there is no exceptions as well, what you definitely eligible for being a lawful permanent resident so long in N400 (application for naturalization) and if it'll be approved then you can apply for US passport, good luck
