Marriott, Morgan Stanley, Dow, and AT&T among US firms cutting off donations to Republican politicians that opposed Biden's certification as president

Marriott International, Morgan Stanley, Dow, Airbnb, AT&T, and the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association have all said they will pull political donations to Republican members of Congress who voted against certifying President-elect Joe Biden's electoral victory.

And financial giants including JP Morgan and Citibank have said they will temporarily pause all political donations to both the Republicans and Democrats, in the wake of pro-Trump rioters storming the Capitol Wednesday. Tech giants, including both Microsoft and Facebook, are also pausing all donations to politicians for the time being.

Hallmark has asked Cruz to return any donations. "When you care enough to send a lovely sympathy embossed with roses card demanding the return of political donations."

"have said they will temporarily pause all political donations to both the Republicans and Democrats"

Omitted from the headline for obvious reasons. I can't see how this is bad news, isn't this what people wanted? Too bad it's only a pause.

Also, about the smaller knee-jerk inducing part about corporations trying to punish Republicans for favoring their constituents' desire for them to object to the certification.. kI2ysb1.gif.

On the surface, it does have all the makings of another big tech, corporate, medical, media, science, education, environmental, liberal conspiracy.

How many Rino's and Democrats were hit with the label of not certifying the election? Get back to me.

The entities listed in the title specifically blocked politicians who opposed the election certification. Those were all Republicans. You cherry picked a quote from further down the article that listed corporations who blocked both Democrats and Republicans and was not related to the certification.

I'm in a quandary because someone inserts terms not applicable to my argument nor myself? I repeat: kI2ysb1.gif

I am glad you own and identify the flaws in your argument. The terms come from the facts in the original article, now you..

You are in a quandary because you missed a relevant part of the article.

Seems you (both) missed the rhetorical part of my post.. it wasn't actually a question. I took the substance of the article, the intention of the article/thread, and opted to draw my own inferences from that substance rather than follow the desired bait. While I understand the desired effect of drawing in those who are quick to reflexively *react* to anything corporations do if its given a perceived slant, neither of the two major issues with this are actually bad news. It's been a far more popular (and meaningful) response to pull donations to both parties, it's just unfortunate it's only temporary. That smaller one where they try and punish Republicans who did what their constituents wanted, over the people who's opinions don't (and shouldn't) matter is going to work in the favor of those Republicans. 😂
