We're so confused. We've been in direct contact with the embassy in Prague over the last 2 weeks since they agreed to accept the transfer of our case.

According to the NVC website and 2 agents over the phone, our case is still at the NVC. However, I received an email from the embassy in Prague saying that they are currently reviewing our case.

So, how is it still at the NVC? I called the NVC after I got that email and they confirmed it's still there waiting to be sent to the embassy at an "undisclosed date." We're just ready for this to happen because the first available appointment time the embassy gave us was mid-January and we'd really like to snag it if it's still available.

I'm just guessing here but usually the file gets send online and the hard copy follows. So they might already have the online file and the just the physical file is still with NVC.

Listen to the consulate

@Letspaintcookies hit the nail on the head. The embassy is either telling you that as a pat answer or they have the electronic file and are waiting on the paper file. With the holidays I believe your file hasn't either moved from NVC or has not yet been checked in by the embassy.

Thank you for the input. The embassy sent us the P3 and instructions to schedule the medical well before we even got a new case number for that embassy.

In the body of the email they sent it reads:

"Once your case is transferred, you can make an appointment here (website link) and follow the attached instructions."

But on the top of the attached instructions it reads:

"We have received your approved petition from National Visa Center. If you have all the required documents ready (according the list below), you can contact us to schedule an appointment."

Should I go ahead and make the medical and interview appointments? First available interview is coming up in about 10 days and the medical would need to be 5 working days prior to that which means we'd need to get to Prague this Tuesday.

You've waited this long and jumped through hoops to get this far. The water is fine, jump in and get the medical and the interview completed. I hope you have formulated plans on how you will transition from your country to the USA under any pandemic rules. Good luck and stay engaged in the process.

How were you able to transfer your case? We are also Dec 2019 filers and still stuck at NVC

same question, how were you able to do the xfer? Also I didn’t think anyone in the Schengen area was processing them, is Czech Republic the only one or are there others? @mryrth

If you are resident of the country to which you want your file transferred to then yes you can follow @mryrth directions above for your case to be transferred. If you are not a resident of the country, you want to have your interview in then all bets are off. Residency is KING!
