Does anyone know how to find out your case number in a queue at embassy? Do we need to call to the embassy or write?

NBC sent you your case number after taking over case from USCIS.

Impossible to determine your place in line at the consulate.  I doubt your inquiry will have any result.  Patience is the key.

And in reality,  would never be a queue, since the k1 is applicant driven and rarely needs to wait for the embassy to do anything

YMMV

There is no queue and it's determined when you personally make the interview appointment. Embassy doesn't schedule interview appointments with the exception of moving the appointment and if that were to happen, we hear from others they get a phone call to make those new arrangements.

You'll not get a straight answer from the embassy so it's best to wait till you find out when it's your time to pay the fee, complete the DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application and schedule the appointment.

You don't have a timeline so it's hard to opine as to where to send you for your next steps. :time:

Thanks

So your advocating that USCIS should adopt first in first out processing procedures? Let's say you file the first of March and I file first of April.  You have a case for whatever the reason is stuck on background checks but my background take less time than yours but because you were first in and that's USCIS policy I have to wait till yours completes processing? How is that fair? See my point? Some take longer than others.  Yours and theirs are not the same.

Cases are done in any order other than when they are ready (sent to consulate).  A K1 (and in the past  Spousal DCF) normally self schedules the consular appointment and medical. Appointment slots fill fast but people do cancel and you can move yourself up.  In our case we moved our appointment up from December to September.

I just hope it will be ok because in our case we need to go to Poland and it seems much more complicated to apply visa and one embassy for two countries, good luck to all! This waiting will finish one day.🙏

Over the years we have seen some who have completed in 9 months and some to 12 months. It depends on so many factors. I wish you the best.
