Hello all,

I have received an email from The Department of State's National Visa Center (NVC), saying that

they have received approved immigrant visa petition from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

Does that mean I will receive NOA2, which indicates USCIS's approval?  I am not quite sure when I expect to get NOA2...

And do you have any recommendations on what I can prepare while waiting for further response?

My partner (petitioner) lost his job due to the covid19, and I am afraid that we might not be able to prove financial support for our case:(

What is the worst case scenario? Could our case be denied or could we delay the process?

Thank you so much for reading my post.

I apologize if my English sounds off...

I appreciate your help in advance & hope you are having a great weekend.

I see from your page it is spousal visa so ,  you can dely the petition at the NVC page for a year

He should make sure to keep in touch with NVC by mail or email monthly to continue to keep it open

this gives him time to find new work and satisfy the income requirement

other way to do this is find a joint sponsor

Your husband will receive the NOA2. You don't have to do anything- your husband must either obtain a new job or find a joint sponsor. You can't immigrate without it. Yes, worst case scenario is a denial.

You should have received the NOA2 by now. It’s possible that it has got lost in the mail. You don’t actually need it for anything so it’s not a problem.

Partner? Are you legally married? Just checking on your terminology here - “partner” is usually used when a couple is not married. A CR-1/IR-1 requires that you are already married. I am assuming you are as USCIS has approved the petition.

You can use a joint sponsor if the petitioner’s income is too low. Or you can wait until things improve financially. You can delay the process at the NVC if necessary.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

Ok, I will check up on his mail!

He is trying to find a job...but do you have any idea how long he can keep looking for a job?
Because I would like to avoid denial, of course. I am not sure if now is the timing to request relay on our case or if he can still keep searching for jobs 😕

JFH,

Thank you for your reply!
It is a relief to hear about NOA2, thanks so much!

Yes, I am. I apologize for confusing you by my word choice. Somewhat I like the term rather than calling him husband.

I am afraid that we can find a joint sponsor to be honest.

Same question that I asked above, but do you think we should change our move at this point?

He is still trying to find a job, and I think he will continue to do so. As for filing our case, however, I do not think we are aware of the timing to claim a joint sponsor or request of delaying the process.

Hope my explanation makes sense...

Was I-130 filed online? If so, check if the Approval Notice is in the USCIS online account under "USCIS notices":

Check the Approval Notice for your A-number. It should be above your name:
