Submitted in Sept. waived biometrics, not other changes

Hi.  Do you have a guess why it was waived?  I'm hoping my wife is also waived because she did it the 27th of February, 2020 for her B-2 visa renewal.  I'm pretty sure her fingerprints haven't changed in that time.

Please update if you get your $85 fee back.    Hahaaha

Ok, so I'm a bit late posting here.  My wife has has a B-2 visa for like 11 years now and we visit the US every couple years for 5-6 weeks.  In December 2019 we decided to do another visit so we got her a new passport in January and renewed her B-2 in February.  I made reservations for flights in May-June  A week later the Philippines locked down and flights were cancelled, etc.  I could leave any time I wanted (if there were a flight) but my wife could not leave as a tourist so we sat back and waited.  In August, Filipinos were allowed to leave on tourist visas if they had a compelling need so I set her up with a number of medical appointments in the US and we flew back the 1st of September.  We decided to stay long term and I got to work on her paperwork.  I wanted to send in the I-130 and I-485 together but I wanted to get her physical done before doing the I-485 so I sent in the I-130 online.  A month later I sent in the I-485 but it returned in 3 weeks for the I-944.  I did the 944 and sent it back in December.  The reason I'm posting in this thread is that even though the I-485 wasn't officially received until Dec 28 is that my priority date is the same as the I-130  Sep 16, 2020.

I-130 processing at Nebraska Service Center

I-485 Local Office will probably be Portland Oregon

I-130 Filed online 16 Sep 20

NOA (IOE# receipt)  17 Sep 20

I-485 Mailed to Chicago Lockbox (USPS Priority Mail) 9 Nov 20

Delivered 11 Nov 20

Rejected/returned (No I-944) 1 Dec 20    CC was not charged.  There was some printing on the bottom of most of the package showing it had already been scanned so I just added the 944 and a new CC charge form and sent it back.

I-485 Remailed to Chicago Lockbox (USPS Priority Mail) 22 Dec 20

Received 28 Dec 20  (USPS tracking still shows the last entry as "In transit 29 Dec 20" even now)

CC charged  21 Jan 21

Txt rec'd 22 Jan 21

NoA (IOE# receipt) in mail   28 Jan 21

NoA with the Online Access code to get more detailed (I hope) status rec'd in mail 30 Jan 21

Priority Date 16 Sep 20

Hoping Bio not required since my wife did that last February for her B-2 renewal.

I went through the USCIS live chat and spoke to an agent to see if I had been scheduled biometrics or if I should be expecting any other notices. The tier 1 agent said no notices had been sent recently. Soon after I checked USPS Informed Delivery, and lo and behold, there's a letter from the NBC coming today. I'm guessing it's either Biometrics or an RFE (not I-944 since I already sent that), but I'll find out this evening. Either way, moral of the story; take whatever their live chat agents say with a grain of salt.

Agree. I spoke with 2 agents about rescheduling my appointment as the office was closed, both said no new date has been scheduled, later that day a letter turned up with the new date !

Hi, I just want to let you know guys what happened to me right now now.

I sent my I-485 and CR-1 visa through mail on early September. My case status changed on 22nd September as ‘Fingerprint Fee was received’ and it haven’t changed at all. I feel a bit weird because everybody was getting biometric appointment mail but me. I always check on visa-journey.

Therefore, I decided to call USCIS and I just talked with one of the agent. She said my biometric appointment is on 12th February which is next week. She said they are going to call me in 48 business hours. Also She was telling me that mail could be lost at somewhere and they cannot track it.

If you did not receive any mail, just try to call USCIS and talk with agent. You might have biometric appointment without any notice.

Update to my last post: turns out the letter was just the I-693 Deficiency Notice. Looks like I'm still playing the waiting game for biometrics.

I didn't send a 693 either.  Planning to bring that to the interview.

@Gasama thank you for sharing this. I have a question, I tried to both use the online Emma chat as well as call USCIS (1-800-375-5283) to talk to someone at USCIS and ask about the status of biometric. But I could never go past the automated system. Do you mind what did you say to reach to a live agent?

Of course! I called that number and I was talking to automatic system that I did not receive any mail nor changed status and want to know about my status. I needed to put the receipt number of I-485 and the system connect with agent but I need to tell them my receipt number one more time. For me, it was pretty quick. It took around 2-3 minutes so I guess I was very lucky.

I did not try but maybe you could say that you need to talk with the agent to automatic system.

Hope it works!
