Update:

1/14/2021 - received a hardcopy of RFIE for I944 Form. They gave me 87 days to reply. Still waiting for Biometrics in Detroit.

Are you going to submit the I-944 right away, or are you going to wait a month now to see if Biden administration changes anything with the I-944 now? I guess, even if there is any change related to I-944, you still need to submit it as without submitting it, the RFE might not resolve itself, and might keep your application on hold.

RoC Timeline:

  1. 12/04/2023 - Application sent to USCIS Elgin, IL lockbox
  2. 12/07/2023 - Application received by USCIS
  3. 12/12/2023 - Received "Your case received" text message from USCIS. Receiipt # starts with IOE
  4. 12/13/2023 - Check cashed by USCIS
  5. 12/19/2023 - Received in mail the I797 with the receipt number and the online access code
  6. 12/19/2023 - Received in mail the bio-metric re-use notification
  7. 12/21/2023 - Received in mail the I797 NoA extending my green card by 48 months

I'm going to send it next week as soon as I get my degree evaluation, which I ordered yesterday. Such a waste of money, time and paper!

Hey y'all,

My first post here. Used some of the resources on this site to put together our (USC wife & me, German national) application package in Sep 2020. We are attempting an AOS from an F1 visa, currently working on OPT. Here's our timeline:

[2020-09-22] Sent in package (concurrent filing + i765/i131 applications) (tried to play it safe and included the i944, a day later it was made mandatory again...)

[2020-09-25] Received In Chicago Lockbox

[2020-10-14] Both checks cashed

[2020-10-15] Received E-mail Receipt notices

[2020-10-20] Received printed receipt notices in mailbox

Local office is in Fairfax, VA, looks like our case is handled by the National Benefits Center.

Seeing some of y'all get biometrics appointments is simultaneously making me hopeful and anxious about our application. Especially because I need the EAD to come through before my OPT runs out.

Does anyone know whether I can apply for the OPT STEM extension at the same time that there is another AOS-related i765 pending?

Cheers,

Cheers,

Hey! About the OPT STEM extension, I would say reach out to your school’s international student’s office. They might be able to tell you if that’s possible.

Small update on my end: just got a text with the receipt number for my AP application, less than two weeks after I mailed it out. The receipt number starts with “IOE.” Hopefully that means it moves at a decent pace, especially if they reuse my biometrics.

09/25/20: AOS package (I-130/I-485/I-765/I-944) mailed out via USPS.

09/27/20: Package received by USPS.

10/24/20: Received NOA1 in the mail. PD is 09/28/20.

01/05/21: Biometrics appointment completed (Brooklyn ASC). Case updated to show fingerprints were taken (I-486 & I-765).

01/05/21: I-131 mailed via UPS.

01/17/21: Received IOE receipt number for I-131 via text.

01/25/21: Received a biometrics reuse notice for I-131.

02/02/21: I-485 Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview.

02/04/21: Received I-693 deficiency notice in the mail (dated 01/29/21).

02/09/21: Advance Parole document was produced.

02/16/21: AP in hand.
02/26/21: New Card Is Being Produced (EAD).

03/04/21: EAD in hand.

09/01/21: EAD renewal paperwork received by USCIS. IOE receipt number.

09/07/21: Receipt / 180-day automatic extension received in the mail.

09/09/21: Received a biometrics reuse notice for I-765 renewal.

10/25/21: AP renewal NOA and biometrics reuse received in the mail.

11/04/21: Interview was scheduled for 12/02.

Cheers,

I believe you can (and should) apply for OPT STEM extension while AOS is pending. Who knows how long it will take you to get your EAD for the AOS. I am on H1B right now and I know for a fact, H1B can be extended even when a AOS based EAD is issued (but not used). I plan to do just that, continue to be on my H1B even after my EAD is issued until I get the green card at hand. I plan to apply for my next (fourth!! and hopefully last) H1B extension in July 2021 as I do not expect to get the green card by then.

So an update, I checked my status, and it said RFE was issued. I'm going to guess it is for I944, so if not, I'll keep updated. But at least its moving for me.

Still no biometrics though.

Hey! Because I just sent my I-131 in January (so several months after my initial package), I’m pretty sure they’re re-using the biometrics I took on 01/05 (code 3, for my I-485 and I-765).

09/25/20: AOS package (I-130/I-485/I-765/I-944) mailed out via USPS.

09/09/21: Received a biometrics reuse notice for I-765 renewal.
