I believe part of the answer is lack of a consistent Federal approach instead  of a patchwork if state and regional approaches. For example masks and social distancing. I am convinced that Texas, Florida, Georgia , Arizona could have benefited from stronger mandates coming from the Feds because we knew more by the time their waves hit.

Other than making recommendations to the states (which was done), and other than travel bans from infected countries (which was done), what else can the feds make the states do?  NYC is a great example of a populated city where its citizens did not take the "social distancing" mandates seriously, and continued to crowd themselves into buses and subways, and look where it got them.  What could the federal branch have done differently in NYC (not that Cuomo would have listened, but that is another topic altogether)?

I'd love to read it. Right now the argument that the Feds can just do more basically ignores the fact that the Feds can't just do whatever they want.

What was inconsistent coming from the Federal Government?  Dr. Fauci said that President Trump followed all of the recommendations given by the scientists, and unlike other countries where there is more centralized control, the US does not function that way in times of pandemic.  It kind of goes back to the circular reasoning used by many on the Left where they complain that President Trump is acting like a dictator, and then they say they want him to act like a dictator.  Which is it?

I am old enough to remember when Trump started talking about mandates and Cujo and the rest of the MDL echo chamber went nuts and said it was up to the states .

kind of like when Katrina was coming and the feds were begging LA and specifically the corrupt liberal black mayor of NO to take action and were ignored. Then it was Bushs fault when no action was taken . Dems never let a good tragedy go to waste

Left: Keep the economy shut down! It's too unhealthy to go back to work! Keep schools shut down until they defund police, give me things I've never asked for and are utterly ridiculous to demand + unrelated to my job!

Also left: Look at how bad Trump is for the economy.. my scientific spidey senses tell me we can reopen after the election (if Trump loses)! Vote Biden!

Basically, trash the country and hold it hostage with violence and misery unless you give me my way politically.

10% of the worlds population 25% of the deaths. No good explanations in this thread.

You seriously need to work on your maff skillz.  25% does not equal 21%.

But what does either number really mean?  There's nothing you, me, Trump, nor Biden can do about it.  It just is what it is.  At least we stopped shoving people into nursing homes to end their lives early.  Remind me again where we did that?

There's also nothing we can do about how other countries report their numbers.

More confirmation bias?  How do you explain that the top five states in number of deaths per million are in order, NJ, NY, MA, CT and LA?
