I don't think so..they probably have a system in place or a reason as to why petitions go to a certain service center (which I don't know). I was thinking I would get Texas because I am from Texas but it is not the case. You could be right, it could be random too.

Does appear to be random how they assigned.

Cases used to be assigned based on geological location, however that's no longer the case anymore. Now, from the outside, where a case is assigned is "random". However they (probably) have their own internal criteria for assigning for keeping workload balance; it's just that geological location isn't one of those reasons (and hasn't been for years now)

You know if that’s the case for all immigration forms? Or just this one?

For most immigration related cases where you are sponsoring someone, it's TX for VA residents.  The instructions of those cases tell you where to file.

What’s the other error?  I was able to download the document when I filed it. It’s already filled out.

other error is due to my husband's name on our marriage certificate. It took me 6 years to even realize it.We were married in 2014. I went ahead and filed it anyways so that I can work on correcting the marriage certificate (this will take couple of months).

Oh I see. Hopefully, won’t delay the process. I was seeing documents can still be uploaded. Wondering if they will look at those. And if within a couple of months, you will probably have time to upload the correction before they get to processing your petition.

Yes, I am hoping the same too. I mean the worst case would be to get an RFE. Some wise folks on this forum and others suggested to go ahead and file the petition. With this covid situation, it will take me some time to correct the marriage certificate because my husband and I have to be present at the same place, same time at the marriage registrar. I am hoping (i know this is a stretch...) that it does not become a problem....his name is correct on our CRBA-daughter's birth certificate, his passport and everything else (all evidence) but..you never know..I am working on it though...thanks for the advice..:)

Thanks a lot! How do you find out when/if your case has been touched?

Log in to your case and look for the date under case status. It should be same or later date than the Submitted Date

Hello, guys. 😀

I try to put the whole USCIS furlough news in the back burner but i keep thinking about it. I feel really bad for the employees + families being laid off in this covid situation and second I filed for I-130 in August. I know nobody has the answer but I keep pondering if I should have an option 2. There is no way my petition will be approved before the supposed furlough.  The situation is like a double edged sword because I can't easily move out of the US (then I will have trouble with the whole wealth, income and domicile status in the NVC + interview stage)  but then if I stayed in the country, my daughter and me will be again separated from my husband---(it is difficult to take a 5 year old and travel internationally on 16 hr flights + masks, face shields and gloves and quarantine). I am just confused. Not trying to stir a debate though.

Kind Regards

Looks like you just applied for the I-130 a couple of weeks ago. You have to give it at least a year to process. Meanwhile you are free to visit your spouse as often as you like.

It's difficult but there's really no options but to wait.. Like Onek said it can take upwards of a year or more before your husband may have his visa in hand, it's all you can do but to visit as often as possible in the meantime. It sucks but most of us here have gone through being apart from our spouses for long periods of time before and during the visa process, it's just a part of the process
