I definately agree - this process is frustrating and can be overwhelming and I believe that a positive attitude can only help me get through the process..of course that is how I face the world anyways, I try to focus on the positives....probably why I have been working in the child protection field for almost 8 years.......hope we get some news soon.....however one day we shall all be posting abour our NOA2

Hey, if the founding fathers had that positive attitude about the king during the revolution we would all have to learn to speak english  nevermind

SWEET!!!! Keep up the momentum.

I participated in a teleconference with the Ombudsman today and just let me tell you, this guy is sharp!!! He has a lot of compassion about the issues affecting ALL of us.

Most of the participants were talking about Employment-Based Visa issues, so I would STRONGLY encourage you ALL to go to the website and see what the topic is for next month and TRY and participate. Those guys are organized and monopolized A LOT of his time. Our Family-Based Petitions are just as important IMHO!!!! So be there and be heard!!! There were employers, political officials and average 'joes' like you and I voicing their concerns.

This month the topic was INTERACTION WITH USCIS at local service centers. I wanted to stay on topic so I just talked about the (2) two INFOPASS appointments that I had that were completely useless and how the officers were rude, knew less than I did, refused to let me see a supervisor, how they put me off and how they gave me misinformation. Even after I left feedback in their suggestion box and asked them to contact me, they did not. He was appalled.

For the record:

The Ombudsman knows all about the Frontlog, backlog, call center issues, lack of receipt notices, double and triple charging for repeatedly submitted applications (due to backlog), rude and often untrained staff, etc.

The problem is this: Congress has NOT given him the authority to FORCE change. He can only ask for a formal investigation and make recommendations and keep publishing the results.

There were some good suggestions made, such as-->instead of sending RFE's that take forever to sort out, why can't the adjudicator call you and say, "hey, you forgot to sign your check, send us a new one" or "hey, you didn't sign your application" or "we need you to send in more proof....." Mailing back and forth is not efficient or effective.

Also, USCIS' computer programs are from the 70's and 80's and that's why they can't give us more access to more specific types of information about our cases. They SHOULD fix this, but most of us will have our SO's here LONG before they ever do that.

Overall, it was enlightening and informative.

Hope this helps your understanding but,.....................KEEP THE LETTERS AND FAXES AND E-MAILS GOING!!!!

Thanks again, Wendy

i just finished writing my 8 letters...i wrote two letters to the offices of both of my Senators (Schumer and Clinton---DC and NYC District Offices), and two to Congressman Nadler (also DC & NYC District Offices)..i also wrote one to the USCIS Ombudsman, as well as the NYC Public Advocate who can be found at the following address:

Public Advocate Betsy Gotbaum

1 Centre Street, 15th Floor

New York, NY 10007

im not sure if all cities have public advocates, but i know that the really large cities do...so if you live in NYC or LA, or something in that general (huge city) area, look it up and write to that person as well!

yay

:skips away to the mailbox:

US Wendy,

Outstanding feedback and also thank you for participating in the teleconference. I see only 6 NOA 2's have been issued by the VSC to members of VJs during the month of September and it is already the 21st. This pace is pathetic. Looking at August, there were 19 NOA 2's issued at VSC, not great either, but I hope they do at least that many this month. 21 NOA 2's issued at the VSC in July, and then you look at June and only 7 NOA 2's approved at VSC...again pathetic and then back in May, 27 NOA 2's issued. Granted this is only based on VJers...but still.

Bottom line is that he is aware of the problems at USCIS, but unfortunately can't do much about it. We pretty much have to target the govt./congress with this and will have to start with the senators. Sending letters to the media is a good idea-some ppl have already done that from VJ.

Where was this website for the Ombudsman and how do u get into the teleconference?

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

One unsolicted word of advice. Assuming you are really applying for a K-1 as your timeline says, stop calling him your husband as you do in your signature. If either one of you refers to the other as your spouse in an interview it can cause real problems. You do not want to find yourself in a situation where you have to prove you are not already married.

Hi,

Now, this is interesting. My fiance is in Ghana and he started calling me his wife, I think in April just before my birthday. His sister lives in Holland and she keeps telling him that I'm not his wife, I'm his fiance. He laughed and said I know that but I've pledged to God that she will be my wife and I will take care of her for the rest of my life so she's my wife in God's eyes. And I think in Africa, a lot of people get married without bothering to go the legal route since it costs money and they really feel that God's blessings matter more. I was talking to him and telling him that if he calls me his wife in the interview then we're screwed so he says he'll practice calling me his fiance but he hopes God won't mind. LOL! He's laughing, but a little annoyed at the process taking that away from him. But you are very right and we have to fit within their box because we need what they have to give us.(L)

Mine says October 27, 2007. I'm hoping for some time in November. I got my NOA1 in June, it's dated June 22. I'm waiting for my NOA2 from VSC. Please God, let them move on this and send me approval. Boy do I miss my sweetie! I guess some of the service centers have a larger load than others. What do you think?I sort of assumed CSC would be swamped but VSC has NYC which takes on a life of its own. Maybe NYC should have it's own adjudicators and the rest of us could share. I'm not sure that would help but maybe.
