Ahh so I likely will get it for the normal duration once I receive the GC

Thanks!!!!!!

Make sure you pay the immigrant VISA fee soon.  Your plastic green card will arrive after you enter the US.  It can take a few weeks to a few months.  Paying for it ahead of time should speed up your entry into the US and the time it takes to get your card.

The $220 green Card fee is paid after the interview....online.  It can be paid either before or after entering the US, but the plastic card will not be sent until the $220 is paid.

You aren't able to pay it until you have the visa issued to you and in your hand.

So you wouldn't have paid it yet if you only just got your passport and visa delivered.

When did you have your interview? How long did it take for your passport to come back?

We had our interview and were approved yesterday and they said it could take upto 2 weeks so just trying to gauge if it is taking that long

No don't worry about it, I had my interview last Thursday (16th) and I received my passport today. That too because I had put a DXs office as my pickup location - and they aren't allowing us to go in. The dx couriers delivered it to me for free and I think they did it soon as they received it. So maybe it's best to have it delivered at home directly from the appointment system.

Ah ok thanks a bunch for confirming. Because if I end up paying twice, there won't be a refund!

Most people pay before leaving......You can pay it here:  https://my.uscis.gov/uscis-immigrant-fee/start-payment

Thank you, that’s reassuring! Hopefully we will get them back within a week too so we can start making our final plans.
I’ve requested to pick it up locally too so will wait to see whether they’ll allow that when it gets there or if it will have to be delivered.... hoping collection as I’m moving out of my flat in just over 2 weeks so it will be cutting it fine if it’s not back by then too!!
Out of interest, on ceac after your interview did you check your status? Did it ever change?
