Congrats!!! I am checking your timeline and I am surprised how fast the immigration processes were back in 2007!! At least the ones involving immediate US-relatives. Not like nowadays 😪

HI,

Yes looking back it seems pretty quick but then again, I was sure to triple check all Applications and forms and I had VisaJourney to help me out and do it right.

Funny though, way back then, while we were going through it, it seemed like it took forever.

A hearty congratulations to your wife AND to you.  As the USC part of our marriage, I know I struggled through the process as much (or even more so, since I did all the paperwork) as my spouse did!

Hooray!  Get that passport application and voter application in!

Sukie in NY

Do we need to do anything with her Social Security card/number?

1.  Please vote

2.  when SS offices open up ,  go and change the status from PLR to citizen

3.  If you got an ITIN for IRS and banking,  also change that status

4.  some states require a status change for driving license

In Texas, my wife (as a legal resident) cannot update an address on her driver's licence (which is a REAL ID) online.......but i, as a citizen, can.

As a new citizen you can

you need to check the DMV in Georgia to see if this needs to be done/ if it does i suggest getting the star on the driving licence for travel by plane within the US

/some airlines say only a passport is needed to bypass this requirement but other airlines so NO,  the star is required even if you have a current passport

@JFH Can you confirm this? I'm assuming it's the Real ID they talk about. I don't have that as they won't give it to me with the extension letter and had no intention on getting it soon but I assumed i could still fly with the passport.

A passport is still and always will be an acceptable ID for flights both domestic and international.

REAL ID requirement has been postponed for another year due to COVID-19. We all have until October 1, 2021 to get an acceptable REAL ID.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

My son tried to buy a ticket to see family for the november/december holidays in NY state (thru american airlines) and was told he would need the real ID (as it is required after October)

Delta sold us a ticket without it as his passport is good enough for them

Go figure

That's weird because not everyone have it and you would think a passport comes first.

I find that hard to believe to be honest.  Because not everyone has a drivers license. And of course if you are a non resident foreignnational you wouldn’t have a us license.
