Good day.

Would love to get some opinions here, or if anyone can share some info.

So, as I’ve read somewhere, that the US Consulates worldwide are conducting interviews for CR1/IR1 Immigrant Visa applicants (maybe also some other types), despite being officially closed.

Does anyone know, if that is true and actually a reliable information?

Wishing health to everyone.

They do interview for emergency cases only.

That, in fact, does not answer my question.

Russia has no plans at the moment to reopen.  If you have a spousal petition and an emergency you can ask the NVC to expedite.  If the petition is at the consulate, contact the consulate.

The consulate / country will need to be in Phase 3 to re-open the consulate.

In some countries CR1/IR1 applicants began to receive their interview dates even for the end of July.

Many, even K-1 applicants, have been receiving interview dates throughout the closures, only to find they get cancelled when the consulate realizes it won't be able to open by the date.

Best source of info is the website for your particular consulate.

Just curious how do you know when NVC sends it to the Consulate? I thought it stayed at the NVC and NVC schedules interviews?

Yes - for a spousal visa the NVC sets the appointment.   For a K1 a letter/email is sent to the petitioner.   An update also is shown in CEAC.

Also note that the consulates will reschedule the cancellations before opening the calendar for the NVC

Thank you. Your explanation makes sense. If the UK is now in phase 3, then there is probably a 3 month backlog until nvc starts scheduling ir/cr dq's with the UK consulate?

There may be a 3 month backlog as no cases have been processed in that time, however the fact that only a very select amount of visa types can be processed surely this would mean the backlog wouldn't be so bad? That's my thoughts on it anyway, maybe there is a large amount of hope in there but it makes sense to me that once open these appointments would move more swiftly due to the fact there will be a lot of appointment types that still can't take place

I do hope so. It's just taken so long until this point, that we try not have too high hopes! But it does make sense if they have extra capacity to process... 😐

I try and think of something positive each day otherwise I will go mad, we have very similar submission times, you submitted your application a few weeks before mine.  Hopefully we are both stateside before too long :)

CR1/IR1 applications are now starting to qualify as “mission critical”, so they do interviews, even though being closed, no?
