The Philippines are starting to allow flights to the USA via Philippines Airlines. My fiancee visa expires mid July. We have a flight scheduled for next week. Will she be allow to broad the plane with a K1 Visa? I read an article the Airlines are only flying out US Citizens and Green Card Holders only.

Yes, info in the Philippines is unreliable. Thus I hope someone that has left the Philippines recently can give me answer.

Take this with a grain of salt and this was what I read last week, I found it odd student visa were allowed but not fiancé/spousals.

All foreigners can leave anytime but Filipinos are not allowed to leave the country unless they are OFWs or permanent residents or holders of a student visa in their country of destination, according to BI.

Thanks. I read that too and that didn't make sense. Student Visa Okay but no mention of other valid visa like tourist or Business Visa.

You'd be better served if you were to post this question in the PI sub-fourm where others from the PI can answer with more authority. I have asked the mods to move it for you. I hope you get good news and can travel.

Unfortunately no, the K1 Visas are not allowed to leave the country due to the travel ban conditions under MGCQ and GCQ in various places across the Philippines.  Nobody knows when those bans will be lifted.  However, the place you need to constantly check is the Bureau of Immigration (BI), Republic of the Philippines.  They have a Facebook page and update there regularly.  If you want to know the latest and greatest when it comes to when your sweetheart can travel, then you want to keep your focus on the BI.

Let the Good Times Roll.

I just looked at the website, interesting.  Seems as if two Chinese Nationals were arrested for running a illegal hospital, and they released from custody without any charges, and now the BI is waiting for them to try to leave the country to arrest them.

This is typical Philippines justice system where money talks

Does she have CFO completed?

As for whether she would be allowed to fly, you may try calling the airlines as they would have been answers

Hi! Yes, your fiancee can depart the country with K1 visa. I am in the same situation and I inquired directly with the Bureau of Immigration cus I was also unsure with their travel restrictions posted on their FB acct.

Hi funiegirl19,

I’ve also inquired directly with the Bureau of Immigration and they told me the exact opposite.  Their latest press release about which visas are allowed to travel outside the country also confirms that.  If this is true then that is music to my ears, but I am not sure if that is correct.   I had a Facebook user said the same thing to me to only confirm later that K1 Visas are still banned from leaving the Philippines.

My fiancee had flights to leave the Philippines and have been cancelled by Philippine Airlines.  Granted, they now need a travel certificate to fly anywhere, but there are no sources that have been published stating that K1 Visas (Non-Immigrant Visa) can leave.  As it is, it has been a bit painful to get refunds on the tickets that I’ve purchased.  I would double or triple-check your findings just to make sure.  If your partner was or is able to leave this month, then I would love to hear about their experiences.

Hope it works out for you.  Best of Luck!

I am the K1 visa holder. I have scheduled flight w/in this month. The list of exempted outbound Filipinos were the ones they posted on their FB acct. Their reply to my query:

US K1 visa holders are included in the mentioned exempted outbound Filipino passengers. Kindly present your valid visa together with the Commission of Filipino Overseas (CFO) sticker/CFO Online Registration Certificate upon departure.

Oh, by the way I called the Bureau of Immigration and emailed them too and got the same answers.

Thanks for all the responses. PAL is leaving Manila to San Francisco, next Wednesday, Friday and Mondays, So far they have not cancel their flights as they did for the first week of June after June 1st flight. Cebu is allowing access to the airport now. She just applied for her travel pass from the Barangay and health certificate to present at the airport.  We have to remember this is the Philippines and nothing is easy and simple in the Philippines. It takes just one person ( corrupt or power tripper) to harass the Filipino citizen. I'll post an update when she arrives here in the USA to help any other members.

According to this unless they have a green card they cannot leave.

4.       International travel restrictions remain under GCQ:

  • Operations:  Most international flights remain suspended as a result of the travel restrictions, thus operations at NAIA are still downscaled and personnel there are still on skeletal and rotational deployment;
  • Arrival:  Only Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs); Filipino citizens and their spouses and dependents; foreign diplomats; and foreign crew members of airlines are allowed to enter the country; and
  • Departure:  All foreigners can leave anytime, but Filipinos are not allowed to leave unless they are OFWs, permanent residents, or holders of student visas in their countries of destination.

PHILIPPINES ONLY!!!  CFO (Commission on Filipinos Overseas) INFO - Can't leave home without it!

PDOS (Pre-Departure Registration and Orientation Seminar) is for ages 20-59.  Peer Counseling is for 13-19 years of age.

It is required to have the visa in their passport for PDOS and Peer Counseling.

GCP (Guidance and Counseling Program) is for K-1 Fiancee and IR/CR-1 spouse ONLY.
