Cebu city and mandaue are still ECQ.   How were you getting from cebu to mindanao?  Ferries aren't yet operational

Filipinos aren't the only ones who don't understand

My plans were made back in February so I was supposed to fly to Cagayan.

You are absolutely right...many people around the world don't understand or even have access to updated information regarding precautions for themselves and their family.

Cebu is still experiencing virus hot spots. My flight to Cebu in June just got cancelled. My wife is on Mindanao which has cities just starting to open up. The jeepneys are allowed to run now but people are restricted to 2 days a week and time curfew in the cities. As I educate my wife about the virus (such as a 2 week lag possible between infection and symtoms) she tells me most people don't understand why the precautions are in place. BTW...the restrictions are being enforced by the police and military.

Are you coming from the USA?  If so, did your flight include a stopover in Manila?  I’m asking because it is very possible they want all incoming flights coming from outside the country to filter thru Manila for COVID-19 screening.  I’m seeing lots of flights that need to connect to Manila before they can go to any other city in the Philippines.

Unless something has changed, Philippine Airlines is planning on operating International and Domestic flights starting on June 1st.  There have been articles stating that foreigners will be allowed to their destination after proper testing.

I was going from JFK thru Incheon, South Korea into Cebu. Delta took out the last leg so I got a full refund. My understanding is Cebu has no international flights coming in.. I'm going to wait until things settle down. I don't want to book again and have to change or have a 2 week quarantine when I get there.

Where is your starting point? From where in USA?

Dallas, Texas

I would like only one layover and stay on same airline or at least a travel partner.

I usually take American to Japan and then to Manila, and have taken Delta a few times but usually I have to go to either Detroit or Atlanta from DFW and then onto Japan and then Manila.

I am open to Korean air, I just won't fly on any plane that land in China or has China in it's name

What i think they are referring to is the travel ban is in effect until June but it could get extended. This doesn't mean foreigners will automatically be able to travel into the country in June.

One layover can be difficult. I'm in SLC. I have to take a flight from there to LAX or SFO. Then to China or Taiwan. Then Manila. But Manila isn't my final stop and I have yet another flight to Mindanao. I want to arrive in Manila early morning so I can catch a flight to Mindanao. Otherwise, I have to wait til the next day.

From what I read in the article below, there will be a limited amount of foreigners allowed into the country.  This includes spouses and such.  If I am misinterpreting, then my apologies.  For me, I have flights booked to get my Fiancée to the USA and I’m hoping she will be able to leave.  Granted, all this can change depending on Duterte.

I heard any travel will depend on how the virus is next month. I wish you all the best in getting your fiancé here. I am in the middle of CR1.

I have researched this subject to death, figuratively speaking. As my Fiance and I haven't seen each other in 6 months and I actually am willing to endure the self paid 14 day quarantine at a government approved facility if that is what it takes. However, there is no "Foreign Nationals" allowed in the country, all visa's issuance have been stopped and this includes those from "visa free countries" such as the US, the only Foreigners allowed into the philippines will be those as stated in the link listed above and pasted here again "They include foreign spouses and children of Filipinos as well as holders of visas earlier issued to accredited foreign governments and international organization officials. Dependents of foreign officials will also be allowed in the country." so unless you have a wife/husband/legal child/parent/ etc... or you are a diplomat/dignitary then for the rest of us the travel ban is still in effect. Additionally there is no visa/travel ban, end date, such as was referenced above i.e. Jun 1st, in fact it the Visa stop and travel ban was instituted on March 22 (I believe) and is defined as Temporary and indefinite, meaning that it is not permanent but that there is no defined outline, i.e. it will end when and if the Philippine Gov. decides it will end. Unfortunately, sorry to burst any bubbles. But if anyone does here any thing about a change, please let me know as I'll be on the first flight lol

That is why American is my best and fastest route there, since American Airlines is based in Dallas they have planes going all over the world from here.  I had some issues with American back around 2010 on flight from to Asia and quit flying them for 5 years, Since Delta expanded and started flying to Manila I became a fan of Delta even with the extra layover. But now I am have hugged and made up with AA and flying them again.  Only American and Korean Air have one stop flight from Dallas

Last I read they were only testing like 8000 people per day, and the goal was 30,000.

Looks like Philippine may be the next hotspot along with some other SouthEast Asia countries:

My flight always arrived in Manila around 10pm, I would never purchase a flight to Davao until I was on the ground. I would go to Terminal 4 which is the smallest Terminal there and purchase a ticket from MNL to DVO one way and it ran about $40, the first flight was around 4 am and they would let you inside the Terminal at 3pm.  The flight usually had only about 20 people on it.  I would lay down on the row and sleep all the way to Davao and arrive as the sun was coming up.

Thank you, I almost wish I went down the CR1 route, since they have a higher propensity of getting their loves ones here due to being a “spouse”.

This article scares me since Philippines is now a country that could be targeted of being banned like Trump did with Brazil recently.  The days can’t move fast enough for us to allow the travel to happen.  My hopes are just diminishing real fast and chances of seeing my fiancée is becoming a pipe dream.....on top of all the money lost (which is not small) for doing the process which by rights should be reimbursed due to this pandemic.

I might just have to come to terms that we will have to wait a whole another year and pay for everything again. :(
