Hi everyone I'm new to this website and I don't know how things work around here but I could really use some help in trying to understand what to do about my situation.

My fiance and I would like to get married towards the end of the year, maybe around September, but he lives in Morocco. I'm not sure what documents I need to bring, or the places in Morocco I need to go to get everything situated ( he's just as confused as I am.

On top of that we're both kind of in a struggle right now, both live at home with our parents and are struggling to find work. He told me that I will need a job in order for us to get married because they will ask for a job certification, however, my mother is willing to become a joint sponsor and help out as much as she can if I do not find work. Of course we're filing for the cr1 visa but I have no idea how to go about that, considering I still need to save up for it which is why we decided to file for that later.

To sum it up my basic questions are,

1. What documents do I need to take with me for marriage in Morocco?

2. Will me not having a job effect our approval of marriage and if so will my mom becoming a joint sponsor resolve that issue?

3. Should I start the cr1 process now and pay when I have the money?

Please dumb down all responses for me, I have such a migraine from stressing about all of this lol.

It is not a good idea to marry on the first visit to Morocco.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

First off you can’t start the CR1 without being married. How many times have you met your fiancé? Morocco has a very difficult embassy so it’s best to have all your ducks in a row before you proceed.

You are allowed to have a joint sponsor pending your mother understands the requirements: it’s not to be taken lightly. As far as what you need for marriage someone from Morocco would have to answer that.

Have your fiancé go to his local court and find out what documents are needed as it can vary from one area to another.  What I was required to bring with me was:  birth certificate, divorce certificate, police background check, letter from my employer stating my position and how much I make.  After I got there we had to go to US Embassy so I could get a form but I can't remember what it is.  Then I had to get a Morocco police background check.  We had to go get medicals and bloodwork.

Be sure to give yourself enough time to get married.  It is not a quick process.  Mine was unusually long because the Judge didn't like my husband marrying an American woman.

Also, please know that it is difficult to get a visa from Morocco.  You should not get married on the  first visit.  Have multiple visits.  Get lots of evidence of your time spent together.  Put together a good petition and frontload with lots of evidence of time spent together and also keep evidence of how you communicate regularly.  In my case I printed samples of our chat logs.  But the most important thing is evidence of time spent together.

Best of luck to you.

Do not marry on first visit, that is the biggest red flag there is with Morocco.

Have time to chat, keep logs of the chats, when you do go, take pics with his family and friends.   Then go again for a 2nd and even maybe a 3rd visit, establish evidence of the relationship.

Being married does not automatically qualify him for a marriage visa.

Get a job, establish yourself , get to really know him, plan things out,    If its true love, he will understand the wait.

First red flag to ask yourself, how soon did the marriage question come up?
