Good news. Three others have reported (in another thread) booking on the 6th and 7th.

The London policy has been that to choose a new date, your date of 8-July will have to pass before you will be allowed to reschedule. Keep us updated if you manage to move up.

Thank you, and thanks for the info. July is not our desired date, but we’ll take it, as it’s only a couple of more months!

At this point, a July date is something to celebrate. Who knew we would have so many roadblocks thrown in our paths? Just when you maybe cope with the frustration of immigration...it gets impossible!!!!

I see your case has been at the embassy more than 5 months. Was there a reason you held off finishing up in January?

Yes it is! It's definitely been a long tough road with much more to come.

We had deaths in the family as well as other things going on and felt it wasn't a good time then.

The letter tells you to get your instructions from their website. It’s all there, just read everything.

As a CR1 applicant, you have a lot of paper processing at NVC because you are getting an immigrant visa that will give you permanent resident status as soon as you enter the US. The NVC collects and checks everything then assigns your interview date before your file even goes to London.

K1s are getting nothing but a nonimmigrant visa that allows them to enter the US for 90 days. The NVC doesn’t collect their application documents or process them. NVC just assigns a new case number and passes the approved petition on to London. K1s schedule their own date and present their documents for review in person at the interview.

Hey, is this the first time they've opened up the schedule since they shut down? I know some embassies have done that and then kept cancelling, but I haven't seen anything in London as such.

I still need to take all my documents to the embassy though right?

You are submitting photocopies for review by NVC. Original documents are taken to the interview like police report, birth certificate etc in case they want to verify them.

For a K1, nobody reviews the visa application, or affidavit of support, or anything until they are standing at the counter in front of the interviewer.  That’s why they are quicker getting to interview than CR1s. NVC seems like a big bottleneck to me, but I guess they need to be more detailed since their efforts result in a greencard. K1s get their Immigrant scrutiny when they apply for adjustment of status once in the US. That takes waaay longer than your delay at NVC.

As far as I know, it was. However, some appointments opened up even sooner.
