Hi all!

We are still halted at the interview stage for the K1 visa at the London Embassy. We desperately want to see each other, and before I book the flight I just want to hear thoughts on the situation!

So I am a US citizen and my fiance is a UK citizen since he lives in Northern Ireland with his family, which is where I would plan to isolate. I know the UK and Ireland are excluded from the EU's ban since they lie outside of the Schengen Area.

Would it be better for me to fly into Belfast or Dublin airport? Are there any issues with me flying into Dublin, getting picked up at the airport, and heading straight to his house in the UK to isolate - technically crossing country lines even though there is no border?

Also is there any proof I need to bring with me since only essential travel is still recommended? Has anyone successfully done this?

I appreciate the help!

I am flying to the U.K. on Wednesday to visit my fiancé. I can let you know how it goes.

my fiancé (he’s from the UK) is in Belgrade and leaving Saturday morning for JFK. He said he’s been wearing masks in public and takes advantage of any hand sanitizer stores leave out. Be aware of bed bugs. He stayed in a hotel that was infested with bed bugs and got bit up pretty bad. Check your bed mattress on the seams and underneath. I don’t mean to sound gloom and doom, but bed bugs travel easily and chances are lots of hotels/air bnb have them.

Hi there, thanks for the heads up! I would take bedbugs over coronavirus tbh... Haha!

And good luck to you and your fiance for his upcoming flight! :)

Alert to all! Make sure to check your stamps if you are going to another country first to try and get into the US! My fiance entered Mexico yesterday and the immigration agent stamped "July 3" even thought it was the 2nd! It was 9pm so definitely should have been yesterday! Such a simple mistake and if we didn't catch it asap we would miss the 14 day mark!

Hi,

I am planning to fly to Croatia on 7th July and stay 14 days. I will then fly out to Miami, via Istanbul on the 22nd. Has anyone had any issues with proving they were in Croatia for the full time? I've read other posts that say I wont get my passport stamped, as I am coming from another Eu country. Are AirBnB receipts and boarding passes acceptable as proof? Does anyone who has done the same route have any other tips or hint that I should know about?

Also my final destination will be Denver, is it fine for me to leave Miami airport to stay in a hotel for the evening before my flight to Denver the next day?

Thanks in advance!

Any thoughts on this:

In the meantime, Austria just issued a new travel warning for several Western Balkans states due to the situation there. Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg said in Vienna, Austria already had new Coronavirus cases connected to trips people had taken to those states.

Corona Alarm for Western Balkans States

They are Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia. What Montenegro is concerned, the policies in Berlin and Vienna obviously differ. Austria just asked its citizens to leave the Western Balkan countries mentioned immediately. Anyone who returns to Austria from those states needs to go into quarantine and be tested for Corona.

Well, the cases are rising here, so it isn't shocking. The state of emergency was declared in Belgrade on Friday, and the government's narrative is that they have it under control and things are getting better, take that as you will.

I don't know what your source is, but it seems Austria just wants to prevent its citizens from going to the countries and bringing coronavirus back. Croatia is also experiencing start of second wave, I would say it's imminent everywhere.

Of course it is concerning, particularly for those of us who are here right now... But what can we do?

Hi, I’m in Croatia flying to Istanbul on the 9th and Miami on the 10th. Just ask them specifically for a stamp and they will stamp your passport if you explain them your situation and plans.

Have any US citizens had any success on entering any neighboring countries of Serbia? The ones I'm considering traveling to are Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Kosovo, and Montenegro. I read that Bosnia and Herzegovina isn't allowing Americans to enter.

Thanks

Speaking for Romania - as it is part of the EU, EU guidelines apply, and US citizens are not permitted entry at this time (https://ro.usembassy.gov/covid-19-information/).

Thank you!

I also did some research and read that Bulgaria isn't allowing US citizens to enter either.

Just for clarification, it's not based on EU but rather Schengen, right?

no, the travel ban for schengen countries is for entry to the US, but it's not reciprocated exactly :)
