If you refer to the materials that I gave you from your earlier thread it states the following which comes directly from the embassy website instructions. 

 

One 5 x 5 cm (2” by 2”) color photograph taken within the last six months: You will be asked to upload a photograph meeting the Department of State’s photo requirements when you complete Form DS-160. We recommend that you also bring a photograph with you to your visa interview so that it is available if the consular officer asks to review it. It can be the same photograph that you uploaded to the application form as long as it meets the Department of State’s requirements.

London Visa interview: 1 photo even though their K1 instructions say bring two. They scan it and hand it back to you.

Here's a word of warning. The embassy in Cambodia asked my fiancee to bring 2 passport photos with her name (and date of birth?) written on the back to her interview.

 

We had like four photos of her and wrote her name on the back and put them back in the envelope we had. She took them out and handed them to the embassy staff and the a bit of ink had transferred/smudged from the back of each photo to the front of other photos, you get the idea. The local staff lady almost sent us away but then begrudgingly agreed to accept the two least smudged photos.  As we sat there waiting for actual interview, I just licked my thumb and sipped the ink off the remaining photos in case this was going to still be a problem.

The USA has some very technical "rules" about passport photos and not just about the size of photo but the size of your head in the photo, etc.

 

I think it's a good idea to get two passport photos taken at two different times and two different places just in case there is a problem with one set, so you will have a back up set at the interview.  And I wouldn't write anything on the back unless/until asked to at the embassy, to avoid the smudge issues.

London K1 interview only needs 1 US size photo and nothing has to be written written on the back. Most photo booths have the US size option. 
The clinic wants 4 photos identical to each other. They can be US size or UK size, either is acceptable at the medical.
