Taal Volcano

Check on your relatives in the Philippines. Taal volcano is on level 4 of 5 at the moment. I know there's limited resources at the moment and it's not easy to get anywhere but might help to coordinate other relatives from worst affected to least.

Hope everyone stays safe.

Yes for sure.   The winds are blowing south at the moment so most of the ash is not heading into Manila.  NAIA is closed, flights are diverted to Clark.

Eight communities around Taal lake are being evacuated the last I heard.

thanks   not sure at all where he stays in relation to the embassy and what travel is like there

i know i was in Ecuador when the Guagua Pichincha was going off in 2008 and we couldn't fly out of Quito to go to the galapagos islands

we could feel the tremors as far away as guayaquil

Taal lake (Volcano) is 46km south of Manila.    Range of evacuation as of this time is 15km around the volcano.  With the southern wind Manila isn't dealing with much in regards to ash fallout.

They shutdown Manila airports as well so if you have friends, family or significant others that are travelling, expect a delay.

My In-Laws are in Cavite (Trece Martires). They sent some interesting pictures. No really issues so far.  Wife calls them every few hours.

All?

Flight-tracking site FlightRadar 24 shows the impact of the airport closure. Some overseas arrivals have diverted to Clark (CRK), Hong Kong (HKG) and Bangkok (BKK); others have been canceled outright or returned to their origin:

YMMV

Looks like flist are headed that way now.   Guam released the PAL  LAX<>MNL flight that diverted there and the flight plan is to Manila.

It's best to contact the company you booked the wedding from. Hopefully, it's not that serious but they are probably watching the news closely as it will affect their business.
