  1. @waraywarayakoCongratulations! What's your timeline like? When did you file for your parent? I filed for mine in April 2023 and status says still reviewing. Thanks!
  2. Hello! I've been researching this topic because I am looking to formally adopt a 4-year old kid that I cared for since she's still a baby and I'm still supporting to to this day. Her biological mother is my sister's ex-gf and she don't want anything to do with her because she has numerous kids and tried to abort her at least 4 times while she's still carrying her. Thankfully, she came out normal. My sister ended up taking her and because of her work, she ended up leaving the baby to me. Because of many other personal reasons, the baby ended up in my care until I immigrated to the US in 2019. While overseas, she continued to live in my house in the Philippines while she was being cared for by another sibling and my mother. I support her going to school and any other things that she need to this day. Recently, her carer is struggling with substance abuse and my other siblings didn't want to care for her and wanted to return her to her other blood relatives and I refuse to do that. My sister is unable to take her because she's not in a good position to provide for the kid. I do love this kid and I wish to have her legally instead so I can bring her in the US. I've been researching a way to do adoption and came across the Hague process. It looks like I will have to submit a form to USCIS first before doing anything. Anyone have any experience with it or any tips? I'm interested in knowing what you know as I searched the forums and came across little information about it. Thank you
  3. Hello! The LBCd document is the long form and not PSA certified yet. You will have to wait for ~2 weeks for it to be submitted (by the city hall) to PSA so you can order a PSA-certified copy of the birth certificate.
  4. Hello @EM ZEE! My mother's late registration was successful. She now has a PSA birth certificate and a passport. She obtained a baptismal certificate from her Baptist church. She was baptized in early 2000 and they kept a record of it. We even had to request to have the name changed so it matches most of her legal documents. The requirements she submitted were below: Birth certificate form - she was given a blank form to fill out, then they sent it over to the registry office in the city hall of her birthplace to confirm some of details. They then send it back to the city hall that we are applying the late registration via LBC. This took about 6 weeks. Senior citizen ID Marriage certificate PSA no record certification Baptismal School records - we had to tell them that my mom did not finish elementary so she has no record on anything. This is not true but we opted to this as we do not have any school record of her at all. We tried going back to her school to get records and they cannot provide it. So we didn't have to provide this. IDs - my mom has voter's ID, TIN ID, SSS (this was a pain in the butt to get under the name she wants to use for all her records so we skipped it) Hope this helps!
  5. Hello! I started my journey through K1 in 2018 and I am now a citizen. I am starting a new timeline for my mom's petition but I cannot find an option to add another immigration journey in my profile. I would hate to delete everything that I've added on my profile during my immigration journey because I still use it as a reference from time to time. Any idea if this feature is available? If not, is there a plan to add it? Thanks!
  6. Just checked my mom's I-130 status and there's a movement (I filed online on April 6, 2023) It now says, Case Is Being Actively Reviewed By USCIS As of September 7, 2023, we are actively reviewing your Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, Receipt Number IOE9********5. Our records show nothing is outstanding at this time. We will let you know if we need anything from you. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.
  7. I filed online for my mom in the Philippines on 4/06/2023. Processing time changed to 6 months as well. Service center is Nebraska.
  8. I have a pending I-751 but there was no mention of it at all during the N400 interview. In my N400 application, I uploaded documents about my 1-751 and a letter requesting for a combo interview. The I-751 status online still says something about fingerprint reuse. I think my I-751 interview was waived or something, but no indicator that it is the case..
  9. CFO does not need to be renewed. A Filipina only has to do it once in her life—when she leaves the Philippines as an immigrant traveler for the very first time. It doesn't matter if she is traveling on an EAD/AP combo card.
  10. Hello! Yesterday, April 5th, I went to my N400 interview, passed, and took the oath at the same day. It was worth the 3 hour drive from Pensacola to Montgomery. We were up early for my 8 AM appointment, slept in the parking space to wait for the oath ceremony at 11:30 AM and was home by 4 PM. We celebrated by taking home some Popeye's chicken! 😊 Last night, I finished the petition for my mom online. And today, I applied for my U.S. passport. Thank you for all the help and support from this community!
  11. Just did my N400 interview in Montgomery, Alabama 2 hours ago. I passed and now waiting for oath taking in an hour. The process was easy. No mention of the pending ROC. I was interviewed alone. No documents were asked. No update on my ROC online but N400 is showing oath ceremony was mailed.
  12. Thank you! It was easy. Not really even an interview but just the civic questions, simple reading and simple writing. No document were asked--just my greencard and appointment letter. The lady was super nice. After everything's done, she just confirmed my info and told me to come back for the oath taking in 3 hours. Saved us a trip! Civic questions were: 1. President now 2. Years the president is elected 3. Chief justice now 4. Ocean near the east coast 5. Power of state 6. Who serves when Pres and vice pres cant. We're just napping here at the parking lot while waiting but I'm just too excited for this to be over!
  13. Just finished my N400 interview an hour ago at Montgomery, Alabama. I passed and waiting for oath ceremony 3 hours later. Finally done!
  14. Hello, So I come across a post on Facebook about a tourist visa holder who is adjusting after marring an LPR. Is that possible? I thought you can only adjust through marriage to a USC? I tried looking for reference on the USCIs website but I can't find a solid reference. What do you guys think?
  15. Hey @Bernese! I am sorry that you are uncomfortable with the situation with your stepmom right now. Unfortunately, we don't know their side of the story so we can't really tell for sure what's happening. It might be a cultural thing, it might be an ulterior motive, it might be something else, we can't tell. If I were in your situation, I will talk to them directly to ask if there's anything that I did to make them feel uncomfortable in the house. Hear what they have to say and try to resolve it. Cultural difference is a real thing and can prove to be an issue. I wouldn't leave my dad with them because dad is adjusting as well and my support is important under these circumstances. He is in denial now but he'll come to his senses. It's important to always have his back. Goodluck
  16. I had this same thoughts when I applied for N400. After applying for N400 in December 10, 2022, I planned on traveling to the Philippines for 6 weeks because the processing time says 11 months. I started following other people's N400 timelines and I have been seeing N400 movement as fast as 3 months so I thought, if there's no update by March 2023, I will book my ticket. My assumption was from getting interview notice to actual interview would happen around June-July. Then Feb 27, 2023, I received a notification that interview has been scheduled--that's only 2+ months since I filed for N400. My interview schedule is on April 5th--that's less than 2 months from getting the interview notification. I'm glad I did not book anything in May because there's no way that I could do the oath taking and passport right after the interview. I assume that post-interview process will be done by July. So it looks like I can't plan any trip until then. So personally, I think you are risking it by going overseas while with pending N400. But if you just filed yesterday and you plan to travel for a month tomorrow, you might be fine. Other than that, I would be very careful about setting travel plans because the estimated time published is only 80% of the cases... you might fall on the top 20%. Goodluck!
  17. I've been an LPR since 3/3/2020 and I've already applied for N400 on the basis of being married to the same USC for 3 years; I've been out of the country once for only 3 months since I immigrated in 2019. Your LPR date is older so you should qualify now. Of course, make sure that you meet the requirements for applying for N400 (no excessive stay overseas, and married to the same USC). Goodluck!
  18. I received my 48-month greencard extension mail today. I saw the mail in my USPS Informed Delivery email and we were so nervous about it because we don't know what could they be sending me a month after my N400 was scheduled. I thought it was an RFE so I went in my USCIS account to see if there was any sent correspondence--nothing! USCIS mail could make you sad, mad, and/or glad all at the same time,. LOL.
  19. Is the mom a senior citizen? If so, I think they allow walk-ins.
  20. If you still can, I suggest trying to get the PSA copy updated to the more legible version of the birth certificate because she will end up needing it even after the K1 process. Just get it all fixed once and for all. Birth certificates are one of the most basic and important documents for an individual.
  21. Unfortunately, PSA copies are notorious for having really bad print because they are usually a copy of the handwritten document which is the original birth certificate from the hospital, then submitted to the city hall. If you notice, the original birth certificate is copied and resized to fit the PSA security paper. Since she already got a better version of her birth certificate from her LCR, ask them (the LCR) to submit it to PSA to update her record. It should be available for ordering via PSA after a month or so.
  22. I just got an update on my N400 saying that my interview was scheduled for April 5th today. My ROC still says fingerprint was reused. N400 filed on December 10, 2022; ROC filed on December 22, 2021. I might have to add a letter to my application to request for a combo interview. Gotta start studying now... 😬
