A few people are wearing masks in this part of the country and I was a couple of weeks ago, but the vast majority aren't. I'm sure if I didn't get it in Europe that me and all my coworkers have already had it.  I've been talking to a few people about it, but it seems to not really be impacting the population here the same way. Almost all the deaths have been nursing home related. Even with a huge outbreak in the general population, the number hospitalized is near zero. 

I'm pretty sick of it too and we haven't as a region been too impacted by it. Total case count is around 120 with 7 deaths (all nursing home related) last I checked.

 

I'm out of a job with little to no chance of being recalled since my work is related to international students and they can't get visas and the ones already here are going home now that the session is finished. I'm actually okay with that due to being semi-retired and collecting SS, but it's all the other BS. Like people wearing a mask inside their cars with the windows rolled up. Really??? 

 

I think Frenchie and I already had it too when we were in France last fall. Both of us were sick with an odd respiratory illness with symptoms unlike the usual bronchitis stuff we get.

Thought I might go further afield this week to shop, given that things local are pretty bare. I could have saved myself the bother.  Still didn't get everything I wanted. And shopping for one isn't as easy as you might think. Everything seems to be more expensive in smaller quantities. I don't have a lot of storage or freezer space here.

No one around today was wearing a mask, other than staff, and I had to laugh at those signs and arrows pasted to the floor: Do not enter! Shop this way! Stay 6 feet apart! And nobody paying the slightest attention to any of it.

 

The hummingbirds are back, and I did see some fireflies last night. I'll go out in a bit and cut the lawn. Been very wet here, and meant to be wet the holiday weekend.

Got a job offer at a vet clinic. But it's almost 17k less a year than I'm getting now and the drive is further.  I'm worried that not accepting would cancel my UI. But with the money difference i think it would be okay.  

Also i remember how my depression got significantly worse in the vet field, and there's no room for advancement there as it's a single practice.  But i could be happy, i dont know.

We're having staffing issues, most staff are getting more in UI than they did in wages. 

Some think they can pick and choose when they come back because of the false sense of security this has given them.

They don't seem to realize that the UI is tied to the job and they will not lose it by working 20 hours - they will lose it if they get fired for refusing to work though
