I tried googling but only find search results for the K1 visa having the rule. Does the marriage Visa also have this rule?

We haven't met for three years because of lack of money as I support my wife financially.

Obviously I have proof of this financial support.

The rule for IR1 is proof of ongoing valid marriage which is very difficult to overcome if you don’t spend any time together

So google “proof of valid marriage for immigration” and hopefully it will help you understand the comments here.

The requirement for a I-129F petition for a K-1 visa is having met within the past 2 years from the date of filing.

No such requirement exists for a CR-1 (spousal visa). However, as many people noted, it is a huge red flag and you would be jeopardizing the over-year-long process (and fees) to pursue the option without more recent face time. People have done this before and - barring something like military deployments as being the cause - it almost universally does not end well.

Heed the advice provided or you are setting yourself up for hardship.

Edit: Evidence of financial support is low on the totem pole in terms of showing a bona fide marriage. Financial commingling is good, but this is a one-way street.

Hi there, Some folks already addressed this as a potential 'red flag'. Aside from the fact that you have not met in 3 years, financial support may also represent a challenge, hence, you may want to try to overcome that by getting a 2nd job (which may allow you to squeeze in a visit or two before marriage) AND also you should try to find a solid sponsor. You should take your time and embellish/fortify your case before tying the nuts. Best of luck.

Even we married on first eye-to-eye meeting and it wasn’t an issue.  We married, I filed, everything sailed through.

The issue here is a 3 yr marriage with what appears to be little to no time spent together.  OP’s description makes it difficult to determine how a valid marriage can be demonstrated.

God, I couldn’t imagine not seeing my husband for 3 years... proving an ongoing marriage will be extremely hard irrespective of how much money being transferred in one direction, the other or both..

How was she supporting herself before you came into the picture?

If my husband was sending me money every month so that I could buy nice food and clothes but then said he couldn’t afford a plane ticket to see me, I’d do without the nice clothes and eat soup for a month or two so that I could see him. Surely it’s more important to be together than send money so she can live comfortably apart? Why haven’t you filed yet? The sooner you file, the sooner you will be together.
