I am the petitioner waiting for NVC case number after receiving NOA2 six weeks ago. Can you please clarify if 2018 tax transcript is enough for CEAC as financial proof? My income for the last year is more than enough. I don’t want to file 2017 and 2016 transcripts because my income then was lower...more than enough but barely.

Submitting the 2018 transcript is definitely needed...the  prior 2 years are optional .. but you must declare the past 3 years taxable income on the I864 anyway

What is your current income?

And that is the key question.  Unless you are self employed, you do not qualify based on a tax return.  You need to state and document your 'current income".

I would agree there is no purpose in supplying transcripts older than 2018 unless they would HELP your case, but you will still be providing the total income number from them as required by the form.

What do you mean by “current income”? I am NOT self-employed. I only have one job, full time, for local government. This is my ONLY source of income. Isn’t my TOTAL current income reflected in my tax return?

2018 tax return would show what you made that year. Do you get paystubs?

Also, I filed “married filing jointly” and included my French husband income in France made in 2018. So the total is bigger than what I made in 2018. Is that why I need to add my paystubs?

Pay stubs are evidence of the current years employment and income. It is this year .. 2019 .. when your income must be above the threshold. Payslips give evidence of the projected full years income. That’s the first think that is looked at by the CO.

Ok, I think now I get it. “Current income” means what I make as of TODAY? Monthly? Bi-weekly? Or wages per hour?

Take your most recent payslip... if it’s weekly , multiply the gross pay by 52 , if it’s bi weekly multiply it by 26.. if it’s monthly multiply it by 12. The answer then is your estimated current annual income. 😁

No.  Your total income last year is reflected on your tax return.  2018 is not "current".  You might have gotten a raise or lost your job since then.  Your current income, comes from your pay stub.  Take the gross amount for a full pay period, times the number of pay periods in a full year.  That is your "current income".

Not "current year".  Not 2019.  A full year at current pay rate.
