GE isn't for entry into Canada.    And ironically half the price of  GE.  Just keep that in mind for renewal.

Yes,  but since we we interviewed at the US/Canada border, we also received a card that functions as a Nexus card at that border.  Doesn’t work at the Us/Mexico border though.

I am still waiting for conditional approval...T_T

Good news is that we both got conditional approval today 9/4/2019, but could not get any appointment until Oct 26, 2019, that is also  2 hrs drive to Newark airport ( EWR), NJ.  The earliest appointment in Philadelphia airport is Dec 9, 2019.

If you have conditional approval you can do 'Interview on arrival' at the airport of entry.  They have a special lane and everything.  So if you have foreign travel before an open interview you can get it done then.  I had an interview at PHL and then the mail lost the card, I asked them to reissue it and they waived the reissue fee.

TSA Pre check alone is worth the cost if you fly out of a major hub.  I cut at least 30 minutes off my airport time.  Flying from Orlando in the summer is an easy 45+ time saver.

GE on returning is less of a time saver.  There never seems to be a very large USC line, mostly tourists.  But still, nice to scan my passport, give the machine the finger and hand in my slip.  3 minutes TOPS.

An update regarding the interview.  It was very perfunctory, the CBP officers simply reviewed the application information (full name, birth date, place of birth, current address, work and travel history) and if there are any errors, they can be corrected.  One thing that was different is that on the electronic form, you cannot include Canada and Mexico in the travel history section, but the officer did include these (if it was applicable) on the form they were using.  Then the photo, finger prints and out the door.  They told us we would get the GE card in 10-14 days, but once it was fully approved, one's passport should already work.  The entire process took less than 10 minutes and they were nice at the Port Huron office as we arrived 45 minutes prior to our appointment time (I thought it was 12 noon), but they took care of us right away.

Good Luck!

I am conditionally approved and interview in Jan 5, 2020?

[1] Can I renew my passport before global entry interview?  [2] Once I will get the new passport , do I have to add the new passport information?

You can use NEXUS at US /Mexico border too.

Just bring the new passport to the GE interview. I changed citizenships/passports after conditional approval and just told the CBP officer about it.  She added my US passport info in my account. I also brought the passport that I used for the application.

Another quick question:  Can I have interview after coming from an International trip ( Philadelphia) at any time of the day or night or I have to come between 12 noon to 8 PM when they are open as per the global entry website?
