Unfortunately, AP is open-ended. It could be days, weeks, months, or even years in rare cares. There is no way to expedite it either.

Extended AP due to security checks and police checks (the USG does not trust Pakistan's PCCs) with Pakistan are common. This is typically on the magnitude of several months.

Same thing happened to my case, had an interview in January CO said 2-3 weeks to get your visa and my case is still in AP for 7 months now. AP for male from Pakistan is taking a long time. Hope yours take less time.

Hi guys,

So, as you guys know that my interview was on 9th july. I was approved but then I was put on AP on july 12th. After that, no update on CEAC since then. What does it mean? Why are they not updating my case at all?

AP is a black hole, especially for Pakistan.  Could be days/months/years.  If they require more information from you they will notify you.  Otherwise, it is just a matter of waiting.

Does it says Immigrant visa application or nonimmigrant visa application when you check the status on CEAC website?

People in this forum say that it doesn't takes long once it changes to non-immigrant category. That is a good news at least.

I hope so too, but what I am concern about is that they haven't updated the case even once afted putting it into AP. It will be a month tomorrow since they updated the case.

I think the average time to receive back the passport in Pakistan in 6 weeks.

If everything goes well, you'll get the good news in next 2 or 3 weeks.

I hope so
