Hi everyone, my fiance's interview was held on July 9th, but the system was down so they told him to come back on july 10th. He was interviewed and the CO was satisfied; he approved his K1 visa and told him that he will get his passport back in 2 weeks. It's been over two weeks, and no update from embassy. On ceac website, last update was on 12th July which put him in AP. After that, no update shown. What should I do?

Nothing you can do.  Approval is not official until the status changes to "issued".  AP can last weeks, months, or even (in rare cases) years..........unfortunately, Pakistan is known for extended administrative processing.......AP can not be waived or expedited.......sorry I can't give you better information.

Well, what is the purpose of the interview then? I have never heard in my life that someone is approved and then they just put their status on AP.

The interview isn't the last action.  All cases go through AP......some cases and countries require a longer time to complete.....administrative processing can result in the visa being issued, the case being returned to USCIS, or a 221g requesting more documents......hopefully, your case status will change to issued soon....

You need to wait for it. It may takes weeks, months even years And then they will approve your visa. I have seen many cases. Many of them get there visa n passport with in two months and some of them get rejected after waiting  for 3,4 months. I hope you will get it soon don’t worry about it just pray!

Thank you so much, it is just weird that they would say that you will get passport in 2 weeks and it's approved but then that doesn't happen! And they don't even open the case

This happens a lot at this embassy.  There have been quite a few who thought the visa was approved but then ended up getting stuck in a long AP.  One in the Ds5535 thread received a questionnaire sometime later.   One was told the system was down and has been in AP over a year (no questionnaire).  I'm not sure if it's a miscommunication issue,  something comes after the interview, or it's a backlog issue.

All cases go though AP it could just be taking them a little longer to process and print the visa.  You just have to be patient.   You can send an inquiry  to the IV unit but at this point you just have to be patient.  There is really no way of knowing how long it can take...all cases are so different try not to worry InshaAllah you'll hear something soon!

Hi. You don't need to worry now. Same thing happened with me. They said approved so now hopefully you will get your passport back with visa maximum by end of august or even before. The status goes to AP and then changes to issued. So dnt worry at all, yours will change to issued anytime soon now.

Thank you so much for telling me that! I am just getting negative things about it which made me worried. Would you mind sharing with me your experience and what was your visa category? Were you also interviewed in ISB?

yes sure. it was K1. Yes interviewed in ISB. Experience was good. They told me the same as they told you. Then I had to wait for one and a half month before getting my passport with visa.

Hey guys,

So previously I told you guys that my fiance's interview was on July 9th, but because the system was down, they told him to come back on July 10th. His interview went very well, they didn't really ask him to provide any documentation, and asked him about 15 questions. At the end, the CO approved his visa and said he will get his passport back in 2 weeks. The case was created on july 10th, and on July 11th, the status was received and on July 12th, the status was put in AP. Ever since, no update from that case. I sent an inquiry to embassy and they replied back saying that his case is under the refusal of 221(g). I also called ustravel and the lady escalated the case to post and it's been a week, I didn't get any reply from them. His case in still under AP, and they didn't email him for any documents. Please give me your opinion.
