I'm still waiting for a NVC number, but I thought I'd try to get ahead of things and pre-empt as much as I can. Part of this is getting my vaccinations in order.

I called my GP today and got a copy of my vaccinations -- attached -- I've made an appointment to get the hepatitis vaccinations on the 29th -- nurse is on holiday -- I'll discuss what more I need with her on that day.

The receptionist wasn't the most accommodating, kept telling me they had trouble getting certain vaccines on the list.

I'm just wondering, based on my records what vaccinations and boosters do I need?

I'm sure I got a TB vaccination at High School also, but it's not listed there.

I’d go the route of blood titers and hope to refuse the useless flu shot which seems is given no matter time of year these days.

Since you had BCG, can’t do skin test - ask for gold quantiferon which is now standard for blood tests or chest x-ray.

If you are between 19 to 49 years old, these are ALL the vaccinations required by USCIS:

-Td or Tdap

-MMR

-Varicella

-Influenza (during flu season only; Oct. 1 thru Mar. 31)

You DO NOT need anything else. Make sure the panel physician transcribes the vaccinations from your record to the DS-3025 you'll receive after the medical examination. It is more convenient if you get any missing vaccination AT the medical examination, as then, the form will officially state: "Applicant voluntarily completed vaccination requirements".

Needed by adults for Immigration

  1. Mumps/Measles/Rubella. Done
  2. Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis (Td no older than 10 years) but only until Sept 21, then you're over 10 yrs on the Tetanus. You need your medical before your 10 years is up.
  3. Varicella  Tell them you had chickenpox and it will be waived
  4. Influenza (only during flu season) It's not flu season until Oct 1 so waived

You already have everything needed if you get on in and get signed off.

Forgot to say the BCG for tuberculosis isn't even on the US list so no worries there. If you are 19 yrs old or more, skip the Hep vaccines.

Beat me to it as I was typing! No need to get the Hepatitis vaccination (I think only recommended for those under 18 and over 65?), the doctor at the medical test will determine what's age appropriate for you - many from the online list are not actually needed by most applicants. I was able to get all vaccinations needed from my local NHS doctor for free just by making an appointment and getting updated MMR and Tdap boosters, and was signed off by the doctor at my London medical appointment.

Thanks, I doubt I'll get the medical before the 21st of September. The NVC has received my case on the 16th of July but I'm still waiting for a number. Might just ask for a booster or get one in September.

I have actually had both Chickenpox as a child and Shingles as an adult.

I may aswell get the Hepatitis vaccines they can't do any harm and they're on the list even if after finding a new charge -- linked below -- I find out I don't actually need them.

What about the: Meningococcal and Pneumococcal vaccines? I'm guessing I'm out of the age range for them.

Just found this chart which is a lot cleared than the list I've seen in other places: https://uk.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/16/2015/11/vaccine_chart.pdf

If you're out of the age range, they won't be required (inc Hepatitis) - I'm 28 and was signed off without them. Don't forget to declare on the paperwork at the medical that you've already had chicken pox when asked.

The two important ones for 18+ year-olds are the up-to-date MMR and Tdap boosters.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but a quick question on the note of vaccinations at the medical. 1) Do they charge extra fees for anything you're missing on the day, and 2) are they pretty much guaranteed to have all the shots required by USCIS without you having to inform them prior to your visit?

Without a profile, it's impossible to know what visa or if you are asking about the clinic in London.

I didn't realize there was a difference between filling in the timeline and making a "profile" - I'll get on that now. But my question was referencing the K-1 visa through the London embassy and hence the Knightsbridge medical office

People from other countries often jump in the UK forum to ask or answer questions so seeing a profile helps.

A K1 needs zero shots to get a visa. BUT if you get your shots before you go or even on the day at the visa medical clinic, then you will be signed off on an official immigration form for your AOS. If you choose to do shots later, you have to be signed off in the US on an official form by a designated doctor called a civil surgeon. It could cost you hundreds and a big hassle.

The shots the clinic in London offers and prices are listed on their website. http://www.visamedicals.co.uk/us-price.htm. You may have to insist you want them that day. They tend to tell people to go back to their GP and get them free. The catch is your GP can't sign you off for AOS, so you would have to go to a civil surgeon in the US. Many civil surgeons insist on doing another full medical exam, which you are not required to have if you file AOS within one year of your London exam.

You don't need them^. As other posters have stated you only need a select few vax. And if you don't think you'll have your medical done by late September then likely you'll need a Td and flu shot as the season starts Oct 1. You can either get these shots during the appt at Knightbridge, or before the medical via your GP, or before the medical at any pharmacy that offers them such as Boots.

If October 1 rolls around before you go, then you will need:

Flu shot

Td (Tetanus/diphtheria) I think in the U.K., they may add in polio to that shot. You don't need a polio shot for the US, but no harm if included. As long as you get Tetanus/diphtheria coverage dated within the last 10 years.

ahhh...Yuna and I were thinking the same thing at the same time.

I have had all those vaccinations except varicella and mumps. Since I have had mumps and varicella when was kid, I dont think I still need those shots. Or is that a wrong assumption?
