@Sarge2155 or @Greenbaum I’m hoping you have some guidance for me. I received my NOA 1 text back on July 3. I have been in Australia visiting my fiancé all summer and won’t be back for another month.  I’m having my trusted neighbor get my mail and she says I haven’t received it. The website says to contact them if I have not received hardcopy by July 28. I do not want to turn my phone on to call as It will be expensive ! Should I have my mother call and pretend to be me to see what’s going on? Or should I not worry about it (since I already received the text and have a receipt number) until I am back in the states and can physically call myself?

It will take about 90 -180 days before you are notified with a NOA2 when it gets approved and sent on to NVC. You have some time.

Since you already have the WAC number I'd wait until you are back, but you can always email them too.

Sorry I should have clarified a bit more! When I go to the uscis website and type in my receipt number, it says that my hard copy NOA 1 was mailed out, but if I do not receive it by July 28 then I should give them a call. Do you think I should? I just don’t know whether I need to stress about this while being abroad since I received a text with my receipt number initially.

Thank you sarge ! I didn’t realize I can email them also, going to give that a go then 😬

The NOA1 is not used for any of the process so no need to go crazy.

K1, fiancé visa applicants only need to show that their sponsor can support them at 100% of the Poverty Guidelines. However, some consular officers are very strict when processing fiancé visas, and consider the 125% level that will be required a few months later when the immigrating fiancé applies for a green card. I'd recommend shooting for 125% level for both the interview and AOS just to be safe.

Thank you!

Wow! I remember when we first looked into this K1 visa process we were expecting it to take much longer than that. It's a nice surprise for us and hopefully our applications follow this trend 😍

Also, just my fiance just received a text today with confirmation our package was received and we now have a case number! Yay!
